Job Summary

Under direct supervision of a pharmacist or certified pharmacy technician, performs pharmacy-related functions to provide optimal pharmaceutical care. Prepares medications, maintains pharmacy inventory, and restocks as necessary.

Essential Functions:
  • Medication Preparation * Prepares medications appropriately. * Pre-packs bulk medications and completes appropriate documentation. * Fills patient specific medications. * Interacts with appropriate healthcare staff and patients to identify, clarify and fill orders for pharmaceutical needs, under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist.
  • Inventory Management * Maintains stock in accordance with manufacturers' requirements. * Completes paperwork needed to track usage, outdated goods, billing, and shortages. * Assists with charging and crediting medication returns. * Restocks and delivers drugs and related supplies to patient care areas or clinics, as assigned, including automated dispensing machines. * Restocks medications in automated dispensing cabinets or other secure locations as applicable, excluding controlled substances. * Prepares inventories, receives drugs and stocks shelves in various pharmacy locations. * Logs drug receipts appropriately when inventory process owner or Stock keeper is absent. * Notifies the inventory process owner or Stock keeper when stock levels are low. * Assists with inventory maintenance and control, including auditing and record keeping. * Maintains secure storage and records of all medications.
  • Customer Service * Handles and triages telephone/window inquiries.
  • Billing * Coordinates insurance billing including third party prescriptions when applicable.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures
  • Mathematical computation skills
  • Organization and communication skills
  • Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, preferred
