Overview
The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Office of Student Services (OSS) serves as the first point of contact for students seeking assistance with any aspect of student life during all stages of the program including services while they are located at sites within the network of affiliated veterinary instructional partners. The OSS provides academic counseling, advising, and support, and referrals to other shared USU services where required. The purpose of the Student Services Coordinator I position for the second year students is to facilitate the successful progression of students through the professional medical program, and completion of the second year of studies. The position is responsible for all programmatic activities that support student belonging, health, well being, and academic success.

Responsibilities
  • Support all year two functions as they relate to subsection 6.2 Student Services of the AVMA COE Self-Study Guide.
  • Organizational operations - support larger organizational operations such as content for marketing (social media feeds, magazine); any site visit involving student engagement whether from government, regulatory, or industry; facilitate year one course scheduling and alignment of all student activities from initial coordination meeting through maintenance of YR2 virtual calendar; ensure institutional policies and practices are being updated and followed.
  • Events - coordinate and support all second-year specific events: Club Fair, end of year transition, etc. Provide support for program wide events: monthly lunch and learns, wellness events, club events, and larger one time or annual events (groundbreaking ceremony, Reindeer Express, etc.).
  • Students - In addition to those items specifically listed in section 6.2, also maintain student records in Banner and CORE; provide content for monthly student newsletter; support student feedback (anonymous and in person).
  • Facility and equipment maintenance specific to second year spaces (locker and mailbox assignment and maintenance; microscopes, break room.
  • Train and guide student employees and/or less experienced staff. Serve on various committees as assigned (attendance, admissions, wellness, etc.)


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience in an office setting or an associate degree/vocational training
  • Valid driver's license to perform essential job responsibilities, such as driving university vehicles and transporting materials

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to make routine decisions.
  • Skilled in creative problem solving.
  • Skilled with basic office equipment, including printers, copiers, and telephone systems.
  • Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events.
  • Records maintenance skills.
  • Knowledge of supplies, equipment, and/or services ordering and inventory control.
  • Database management skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
  • Knowledge of communication principles, media, and marketing techniques.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential business data and personal information.

ADA
The position includes time spent in a normal office setting, but also requires the ability to set up and take down equipment, supplies, and materials associated with the different types of events that are coordinated in support of student programming. Event coordination does require some physical activity that may include climbing on ladders, lifting items that weigh up to 40 lbs, or pushing or pulling heavy objects. The employee must be prepared to assume uncomfortable positions such as kneeling and squatting.
