Fire Control Technician System Subject Matter Expert

Job Overview:
ACARA Solutions, in partnership with our client in Manassas, VA, is seeking a highly skilled Tactical Control System Subject Matter Expert to join a dynamic team supporting the U.S. Submarine Force. The selected candidate will play a key role in the development and testing of state-of-the-art Tactical Control Systems for US submarines. This is a contract-to-hire position, and candidates must have prior Navy experience with a focus on Fire Control systems, specifically from a Naval Ship tour.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Active DoD Security Clearance required.
- One Naval Ship tour with Fire Control experience.
- Experience as a Submarine Fire Control Technician (FT) or similar roles such as ST, ET, or IT.
- Familiarity with the AN/BYG-1 combat system.
- Strong background in system testing, evaluation, and verification.
Responsibilities:
- Develop, modify, and execute detailed test plans, test procedures, and reports for the Tactical Control System.
- Assemble and stand up computer equipment in support of system testing.
- Define, review, and analyze system requirements for system modifications and enhancements.
- Ensure all functional and technical specifications and standards are met throughout the development cycle.
- Investigate and resolve software and hardware interface issues.
- Provide input into project/program plans and ensure timely deliverables.
- Lead the review, development, and modification of procedures and products for Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) functions.
- Collaborate in technical and program meetings and communicate project/program issues to management.
- Mentor and guide junior team members on best practices and technical challenges.
Skills & Competencies:
- Expertise in fire control systems, ideally within the submarine domain.
- Experience with tactical control systems and combat system software.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot system issues effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with various technical and management teams.

Required Skills / Qualifications:
- One tour on a Naval Ship with Fire control experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of Navy experience as a Submarine Fire Control Technician (FT) or similar (ST, ET, or IT)
- Minimum of 5 years experience with AN/BYG-1 combat system
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Master's Degree.
- Subject matter expert (SME) in one discipline/field and developing working knowledge in adjacent disciplines/fields

Additional Information:
- Upon offer of employment, the individual will be subject to a background check and a drug screen.
- Active Secret DoD Clearance
