Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for the Center for Advanced Biotechnology and Medicine ( CABM) on the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences Campus in Piscataway, New Jersey.

The primary purpose of the Temporary Research Assistant is to perform research activities in a laboratory investigating the role of neural activity in guiding and initiating motor actions. The Temporary Research Assistant will assist the research of other scientists in the lab and maintain the laboratory's animal colony.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Handles, breeds, genotypes, and trains rodents for experimental purposes.
  • Maintains databases of lab equipment, reagents, and animals.
  • As directed, performs standard experiments in the lab: Rodent behavioral training, microscopy, multiphoton imaging, rodent surgical procedures, PCR, etc.
  • Attends and participates in regular lab meetings.
  • Keeps detailed records of procedures and experiments. May be required to compile data and present results.

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: Manual dexterity and vision sufficient for standard laboratory operations including pipetting and use of microscopes. Lifting up to 25 lbs.

Work Environment: Lab environment. Universal precautions are mandatory.
