Responsibilities

Mesilla Valley Hospital has been in operation since 1987, serving those in need of treatment for a variety of psychiatric and substance abuse issues. Mesilla Valley Hospital is a 120-bed facility, providing access to quality behavioral healthcare and substance abuse treatment to residents of New Mexico, West Texas and Arizona. MVH is the leader in providing quality mental health and addiction treatment services. Our commitment to care includes developing integrated delivery systems through partnerships with medical surgical hospitals, community mental health centers, educational institutions, managed care organizations, local health professionals and agencies.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The MHT/CNA therapeutically interacts with the patient and assists in maintaining safety and cleanliness of the unit. Collaborates closely with the more experienced MHTs/ CNAs and Nurses to provide a therapeutic milieu under their guidance. MHTs/CNAs are expected to use training skills consistently. The MHT/CNA functions as an active part of the treatment team, they are role models to patients and other MHT/CNA's. The MHT/CNA work's under the direction of a Registered Nurse. MHT/CNA demonstrate commitment to Service Excellence program.


Qualifications

Education:

High School Degree/GED required; or Associates Degree in a Human Services field; or Bachelors Degree in a Human Services field; or a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Experience:
One year of work experience in a behavioral health facility, or bachelor' s degree in social services or related field, plus one year of work experience in behavioral health service or delivery preferred.

Additional Requirements: Must have a current valid driver's license with no DWI/DUI violations in the last 3 years (see driving policy). Must be 18 years or older and have a good driving record as obtained from the Department of Public Safety. Direct service staff must complete a minimum of 20 hours of pre-service training including CPR and Crisis Prevention Intervention.

WORK HOURS: 8 and 12 hour shifts available. PRN employees must work four shifts per month, one shift must include a weekend.
