DEI Program Manager

Summary

Develops human resource management strategies and policies to meet business needs. Leads the planning and administration of activities related to talent acquisition, training and development, compensation, benefits, internal mobility, diversity, equity and inclusion, talent and organizational development and employee/labor relations.

Provides strategic thought leadership to implement DEI across the workforce by partnering successfully with leaders. Connects initiatives and efforts as a DEI Champion to tangible outcomes to positively impact culture and business. Develops and implements DEI solutions. Leverages DEI best practices to help achieve strategic DEI goals and ensures the culture represents our values where we draw our strength in our diversity, everyone contributes, everyone belongs.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and strategically project manage the creation and nurturing of an inclusive, respectful workplace, ensuring it is free from discrimination, intolerance, harassment, and retaliation.
  • Champion and exemplify an inclusive work environment and respectful treatment through actions and communications.
  • Advocate for the advancement of diversity and inclusivity in the workplace.
  • Support the creation and mobilization of the Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) strategy company-wide.
  • Facilitate communication, education, and training to enhance awareness and understanding of D&I, maximizing accountability and employee engagement.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and communicate the progress of D&I initiatives against expected programs and behavioral outcomes to sustain the D&I framework.
  • Develop and deliver D&I programs and initiatives, including enhanced educational efforts through workshops, training, tools, and resources for D&I leadership, management, and professional development.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented, with ability to build relationships with all levels of leadership, technical and business resources.
  • Knowledge of diversity & inclusion principles, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmation action laws & regulations.
  • Solid understanding of employment law, employee relations and diversity best practices.
  • Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, quantify, interpret, and report statistical data for presentations to make recommendations that support business strategy.
  • Strong program, project and change management experience/skills.
  • Must be able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proactive, innovative, organized and able to yield outcomes quickly.
  • Ability to handle confidential materials.
  • Strong communication skills (written & verbal), outstanding presentation and facilitation skills for an enhanced customer experience.
Education, Experience and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 4 years in one or a combination of the following areas: HR, communications, or public relations preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in workforce diversity, equity and inclusion preferred.
  • Experience in project and program management.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing internal programming that includes educational awareness, training & facilitation of organizational development initiatives.
  • D & I experience such as leadership of a Business Resource Group preferred.
  • Experience working in a Union environment a plus.
Physical Requirements

Up to 30% travel of the time primarily within NY State.

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The estimated salary range for this position is: $83,990.00 - $115,480.00.The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
