Role Profile

We are expanding a team of Full Stack Engineers who are not just coders, but innovators, ready to tackle complex challenges.
In this role, you'll be joining our Research and Analytics Engineering Team within FTSE Russell as a Full Stack Developer. This team works closely with the internal Research function to bring new features to production as quickly as possible.
A key part of the role will be supporting and progressively refactoring the code used to generate and process Factor based index products.
Ensuring correct tooling standards are being followed as well as automation of operational tasks.
Ensuring an acceptable level of IT operations performance and error risk in line with service level agreements (SLAs)
Continuously review operating metrics and data to identify opportunities to improve.

Tech Profile/Essential Skills

Highly proficient in Python, C#
Expert understanding of SQL Server databases
Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (preferably GitLab CI)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS)
Developer Tools (ex: GitLab, Jenkins )
Expert understanding of SQL Server databases
Understanding of performance testing and optimization
Experience with unit testing, integration testing and end-to-end testing frameworks
Knowledge of equities / background in finance.

Preferred Skills and Experience

Hands-On experience of working on Windows Servers.
8 years + experience in software development
Understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices
Managing incidents, change requests, service requests calls.
Strong troubleshooting skills on these platforms.
Direct experience of working with Index products.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in English with all levels of staff, both orally and written.
Ability to manage own work and multitask to meet tight deadlines without losing sight of priorities under minimum supervision.
Highly motivated, self-directed individual with a positive & pro-active attitude to work.
Customer and service focused, with determination to meet their needs and expectations.
Be driven and committed to the goals and objectives of the team and organization.
Second line point of escalation in event of a major incident

Key Competencies

Designing and developing software applications from conception to deployment.
Participating in all stages of the software development lifecycle, including architecture design, testing, and performance evaluation.
Conducting code reviews and ensuring high standards of code quality and maintainability.
Proficiency in debugging and optimizing code.
Ability to write clean, maintainable and efficient code.
Analyses infrastructure requirements and designs the architecture for central or distributed processing to meet user requirements.
Develops, tests and maintains software applications and related programs and procedures; demonstrates creativity and innovation using available software development tools and following design requirements.
Creates and maintains documentation to describe the system and its parts, including requirements documents, design decisions, architecture descriptions, program source code and support documentation.
Knowledge of security principles and best practices to protect applications from vulnerabilities
Shows ability to come up with new ideas and novel approaches to problems and establish solutions through different methods.
Partners with clients and resolves issues by diagnosing problems, determining possible resolutions and implementing effective solutions
Defines a problem, generates solutions, and evaluates and identifies the best solution to overcome the problem.
Interacts well with others, quickly establishing rapport building positive relationships and networks.
Ensures a product/service meets or exceeds specified standards and objectives to achieve desired level of quality
Willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies and adapt changing requirements
