Hiring Pay Range: $65,000 - $81,500 annually
Full Range: $65,000 - $98,000 annually

Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) is seeking an enthusiastic and Training and Development Coordinator to support our staff in building a toolkit for success. You will guide our team members from all our divisions in reaching their full potential at providing excellent care to the animals in our shelter and the people in our community while building morale and teambuilding. We Require

  • Three years of experience training and implementing training programs at an animal welfare, animal control organization, or closely related environment
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Job-related experience may substitute for the minimum education requirements on a year-for-year basis

We Also Value

  • Degree or training in Animal or Behavioral Sciences or a closely related field
  • Experience using Workday, Excel, SharePoint, and Storyline 360
  • Experience or education in adult learning theory and teaching techniques

Job Contributions

  • Develops learning curriculum and delivers in-person and virtual classroom programs on topics related to customer service, animal handling, shelter operations, shelter medicine, data entry, workplace safety, and general operational practices
  • Generates learning content in a variety of formats including written, audio, and/or video for employees and volunteers. Uploads material to different platforms and creates appropriate tracking mechanisms for task completion
  • Grow and oversee our New Employee Onboarding experience by developing a program to set up our new hires for long term success and a positive experience within ACC with the goal to promote staff retention
  • Oversee employee engagement by overseeing the employee engagement committee, and executing plans for staff engagement, team building, shelter morale, and workplace community
  • Maintains employee records within the County performance & learning system by recording completed coursework, conducting audits, and preparing reports as needed to ensure all ACC staff are compliant
  • Research trends, methodologies, and best practices in animal welfare, customer service, adult learning, and report writing to integrate into a professional application
  • Creates and runs standard reports to identify areas of opportunity for training with the Department and identify trends

Working Conditions

  • Must possess, or have the ability to obtain by the time of hire, a valid Arizona driver's license
  • Exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally, 10 lbs. frequently, or negligible amounts constantly OR requires walking or standing to a significant degree
  • The position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
  • This position works in a busy, often noisy, office setting within an animal shelter with proximity to animals of all types
  • Exposure to animals, cleaning products used in animal shelters, and the smells associated with animal housing are common
  • While performing this job's duties, the employee is regularly required to stand or sit for prolonged periods and occasionally walk on all types of surfaces, sometimes slippery and/or uneven and rough
