Job Description
The Opportunity The Department of Humanities & Communication seeks a tenure-track assistant professor with a Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition, Technical Communication, or a related field. Applicants who are ABD and scheduled to graduate before August 2025 will also be considered. The successful candidate must have a record of scholarly productivity that demonstrates potential to sustain high-quality research in the field of writing studies, with a specialty in writing in the disciplines/writing across the curriculum, multilingual communication, science rhetoric, or a related field. Individuals with a research area related to aviation, engineering, or international affairs are particularly encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate will consider opportunities for collaboration across campus and have experience in writing program administration. About the Department of Humanities and Communication and the College of Arts and Sciences In addition to offering general education courses in writing, humanities, and communication at a STEM-focused university, the department of Humanities and Communication delivers academic programs in Communication and Interdisciplinary Studies, with minors in Humanities, Communication, Latin American Studies, Arabic Studies, Russian Studies, and Chinese Studies. The department has 38 full-time faculty members. The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) is the interdisciplinary hub of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Our world-class programs span from the sciences to the humanities with a focus on preparing our students for careers in aerospace, government, and a wide variety of industries.
