Great Hill is seeking aTactical Hardware Engineer (MID), in Tampa, FL. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tactical Hardware Engineer, MID, to join our dynamic team. This role is crucial in designing, developing, integrating, and testing TACLAN hardware and electronic components for application within TACLAN systems. The ideal candidate will work across the system development life cycle, from board-level to system-level hardware design, and ensure all designs meet rigorous standards and specifications. The Tactical Hardware Engineer will also lead the research, development, and testing of electronic systems while collaborating closely with software engineers to ensure seamless integration.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Design and Development: Lead the design, development, integration, and testing of TACLAN hardware and electronic components in accordance with TACLAN system requirements. Ensure designs meet all necessary standards and specifications across the entire system development life cycle.
  • Test Control Apparatus: Lead and perform detailed design and development of test control apparatus and equipment to support the validation of TACLAN hardware.
  • Schematic and Drawing Creation: Use CAD tools to develop detailed schematics and drawings to support the fabrication of electronic components, including schematic capture, timing simulation, and place and route tools.
  • System and Component Design: Lead research, design, development, and testing of electronic components, products, and systems. This includes both board-level components and complete system-level solutions for TACLAN applications.
  • Qualification and Testing: Qualify and test hardware designs, developing robust test plans and procedures, and ensuring the reliability of test systems. Conduct qualification and verification testing to ensure all hardware performs to specified requirements.
  • Software Integration: Work collaboratively with software engineers to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software components, troubleshooting any integration issues that arise.
  • Project Management: Manage the design and development lifecycle to ensure all designs are completed on schedule. Identify and address budgetary constraints, ensuring the project remains on track and within cost.
  • Cloud Integration: Advise and lead the integration of cloud-based solutions with on-premises hardware, ensuring that best practices are applied to meet industry standards for cloud-hardware integration.
  • Automation: Identify and implement hardware-based automation efficiencies within existing programmatic automation frameworks to optimize design, testing, and integration processes.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field, or 10 years' experience in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in hardware engineering, with a focus on tactical or mission-critical hardware systems.
  • Expertise in CAD tools (e.g., schematic capture, timing simulation, place and route tools) for hardware design and development.
  • Strong knowledge of the system development life cycle, from board-level design to complete system integration.
  • Proven experience leading the design, testing, and qualification of electronic components and systems.
  • In-depth understanding of hardware-software integration and ability to consult with software engineers to ensure successful integration.
  • Experience with cloud integration for hardware solutions, including industry best practices for integrating on-premises hardware with cloud services.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team-oriented environment while leading hardware design initiatives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance


Desired Skills:



  • Experience with TACLAN or similar systems, including military or defense applications.
  • Experience with hardware-based automation and programmatic automation frameworks.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for electronic hardware design, testing, and integration.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
