Annual Salary: $36,500

Position Description

The laboratory of Dr. Ted Abel in the Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine has an opening for a post-baccalaureate research intern position.

Basic Function andResponsibility

To perform foundational research in the mechanisms of memory storage and the molecular basis of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders using mice models.We seek an individual with experience with rodent behavior experiments.

EducationRequired

Interested applicants should have a bachelor's degree in a biomedical field or a related degree with at least some previous experience with laboratory research, in particular with regard to neuroscience, genetics, and the maintenance of mouse breeding colonies.

Required Qualifications

Experience working with rodents.

Familiarity with an animal care policy and practice.

Experience with breeding and genotyping genetically modified mice.

Experience with sectioning and immunohistochemistry.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Qualifications

One to two years' experience in a laboratory research setting.

Some working knowledge of the molecular mechanisms of memory storage and the molecular basis of neurodevelopmental and psychiatric disorders.
