Overview

Job Summary:

Works as a liaison between Simulated Participants (SP), simulation teammates, and user group stakeholders. Oversees daily operations of simulation activities, involving SPs, and the tasks that keep these activities running smoothly. Completes tasks such as creating SP and learner schedules, coordinating SP orientation, organizing simulation events, providing SP training materials, collecting evaluation data, processing student performance evaluations, and being the first point of contact for SPs and advocating for them, while meeting the expectations of the simulation program.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates SP orientation, responsibilities include providing a thorough overview of the SP program and Carolinas Simulation Center, providing required text and reading, defining documentation requirements, providing schedules (training and sessions), discussing appropriate policies and procedures and arranging for parking and badge access.
  • Manages scheduling platform and assists with the scheduling calendar for meetings and simulation events. Supports the SP Program by managing daily logistics for all SP activities.
  • Coordinates collating data and feedback from evaluations using the simulation programs learning management system (LearningSpace).
  • Organizes and maintains SP program files and session materials.
  • Supports all simulation user groups utilizing SPs in their curriculum from pre-licensure through ongoing continued competency and across healthcare professions by ensuring curricular goals and objectives are met.
  • Liaisons between SPs and Simulation Teammates.
  • Collaborates with other simulation teammates prior to and during events to coordinate the development and implementation of complex sessions. This may include audio/visual (AV) system and other technology functions, set-up and breakdown of activities, research support, etc.

Education, Experience and Certifications:

High School Diploma or GED required. Associates preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Prior secretary or medical secretarial experience and/or training required. 2 years prior experience as a simulated participant, SP Coordinator, actor, stage manager, or project manager preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Works in a busy office environment. Frequent contact with various academic health professionals. Requires long periods of sitting, operating keyboard and telephone. Occasional lifting of documents and supplies. Walking between departmental offices on campus. Responsible to work in a safe manner.

Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.
