Job Purpose

The Chemist is responsible for timely completion of analytical evaluations of materials to support production, engineering, and technology contract schedule requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Use a variety of techniques to analyze materials, chemicals, and determine if characteristics are within specification limits
* Maintain analytical equipment needed for testing of materials
* Review test results and trends
* Reconciles external analysis with accounts paypable
* Maintain high morale and sense of teamwork
* Develop effective testing procedures
* Monitor equipment functionality and initiate repair maintenance requests
* Maintain and organize tooling inventory
* Maintain 5S principles and score of 3 or higher
* Regularly review safety procedures and equipment to ensure procedures are properly followed
* Maintain analytical chemical and supply inventory

Qualifications
  • Bachelors or Associates degree in chemistry and knowledge of chemical procedures and testing equipment techniques
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in areas near moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The employee is frequently required to stand.
