GENERAL PURPOSE

Legrand AV is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our dynamic Finance team. This internship offers hands-on experience in a range of accounting functions, including month-end close, account reconciliations, accounts payable, sales controllership, and internal controls. The role is ideal for someone pursuing a career in accounting or finance who wants to build a strong foundation in real-world accounting practices.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Month-End Close:

  • Assist with preparing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support the preparation of month-end close documentation.

Account Reconciliations:

  • Reconcile prepaid and other key accounts.
  • Research and resolve variances or discrepancies in accounts.

Accounts Payable:

  • Assist in reconciling vendor statements and resolving invoice to purchase order discrepancies.

Sales Controllership:

  • Assist Customer Programs team with financial data and reporting needs related to rebates.
  • Assist with customer disputes processing.
  • Ensure accuracy of sales-related financial entries and compliance with company policies.

Internal Controls:

  • Collaborate on testing and documentation of key internal control processes.
  • Identify potential improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
  • Support audit preparations by organizing and verifying documentation.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to proactively seek out answers and gather information from various sources within the organization.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle and keep confidential information and to use discretion.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing this job, the employee is regularly required (for most of the working day) to sit and make coordinated movements of the fingers for data entry on a keyboard.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
  • General office environment

EDUCATION

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Completion of foundational accounting courses (e.g., financial accounting, managerial accounting) is preferred.
