The BNSF Railway Finance Department provides innovative strategic solutions and world-class financial services to support BNSF's overall performance. The department is committed to maintaining integrity and recognizing the company's successes, ensuring that BNSF remains a leader in the railway industry. Within the Finance Department, several specialized departments contribute to its overall mission: Controller, Revenue Management, Strategic Sourcing, Tax, Treasury, and Strategic Studies. Each department is vital in managing BNSF's financial health and strategic financial planning. These departments work collaboratively to secure BNSF's economic stability and support its growth and innovation within the railway industry.

This is a full-timeposition located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Our leaders also foster a culture where work life balance, which requires flexibility for when life happens, is important and respected.

Key responsibilities may include:

Perform headcount reporting on a monthly basis for both internal and Surface Transportation Board (STB) along with required quarterly and annual payroll reporting for the STB and Association of American Railroads (AAR).

Manage month-end close processes and account reconciliations for various balance sheet accounts

Monitor and update forecasting and planning of assigned income statement and balance sheet accounts

Lead compilation, analysis and presentation of annual studies, including collaborating with third party actuaries regarding significant reserve

Professionally interact with, support, and present to business partners and Senior Management in response to questions and ad hoc requests

Participate in creating and supporting documentation of third party claim bills for high profile incidents

Daily work is conducted in an indoor office environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field.
  • Minimum two years of experience within BNSF or the accounting/financedepartment of another company (public accounting experience is a plus).
  • Must possess a solid understanding of financial statements and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Successful candidate must also have strong interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Successful candidate must be a self-starter, have the ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks and demonstrate the ability to organize team efforts to accomplish common goals.
  • Must be able to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
  • Personal computer skills are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
