MGU, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Gas Utility Worker in our Monroe, Michigan location.

Job Summary

Record customer natural gas usage in handheld and provide quality customer service by reading meters, inspecting meters and equipment and providing information to customers. Perform other duties as assigned and in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Report to assigned leader. Duties performed under the general supervision of the Operations Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities
  • Record customer natural gas usage. Obtain assigned route and handheld unit. Accurately read and record meter readings for all types of meters. Report irregularities in meter reading or in gas consumption. Inform supervisor of any discrepancies. Report suspected cases of diversion. Report meter installation not conforming to company rules. Report meters not listed in handheld. Report gas leaks on service lines, broken meters and service seals. Provide Customer Service. Relay customer requests to appropriate personnel. Provide information regarding company policies and rates. Handle minor customer complaints
  • Paint meters. Common duties as assigned by management. Complete records and forms required
  • Locating and atmospheric corrosion surveys
  • Assist other employees of higher classification when required
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, HSED or GED
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and meet company standards for driving
  • 1+ years' experience with safety requirements
  • 3+ years' familiarity with computers

End Date: 04/20/2025

Minimum Posting Range: $24.43

Maximum Posting Range: $33.16

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
