What You'll Be Doing

As a Senior Design Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of innovation, overseeing the full design lifecycle of high-precision machined components and brazed assemblies for aerospace and defense applications. Your work will impact product performance, manufacturability, and long-term reliability.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Lead design initiatives for machined parts and brazed assemblies using advanced CAD tools
  • Develop high-efficiency, lightweight, and durable designs that meet rigorous aerospace and defense standards
  • Define and optimize joint designs for high-temperature brazing-considering materials, geometry, and manufacturing tolerances
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure manufacturability, quality compliance, and cost efficiency
  • Conduct FEA simulations and tolerance stack-up analyses to validate product performance
  • Maintain detailed engineering documentation including drawings, BOMs, and test plans
  • Participate in and lead design reviews, continuous improvement efforts, and root cause investigations
  • Mentor junior engineers and share technical knowledge across departments
  • Collaborate directly with suppliers and customers to clarify design intent and performance expectations
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements including AS9100 and ITAR standards

What You'll Need to Succeed



  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design for aerospace or defense industries
  • Advanced proficiency in designing for precision machining, tight tolerances, and high-temp brazed joints
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, CNC machining processes, and design optimization principles
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD platforms (Creo) and FEA tools
  • Familiarity with industry standards (AS9100, ITAR) and customer-specific requirements
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Experience with vacuum or dip brazing, thermal stress analysis, and heat transfer modeling is a plus
  • Background in DoD contracting or work with major primes such as Lockheed Martin or Raytheon preferred
  • Understanding of FAI (First Article Inspection) and manufacturing process validation
