Position Summary

Operates cabler/twisting machine by supplying yarn to machine whose purpose is to intertwine multiple strands of yarn into a single strand.

Essential Functions



  • Perform duties in a safe manner utilizing all required personal protection equipment.

  • Perform job in an efficient manner in order to meet our goals.
  • Be present and on time on scheduled workdays for the purpose of maintaining excellent customer service


Position Responsibilities



  • Check specification sheet before starting shift-mandatory fisherman knot
  • Check label in all packages
  • Patrol job repairing any ends down
  • Make sure ends are threaded through guides and tension devices correctly
  • When starting new yarn package, make sure to run a starter tail on each tube or cone
  • Doff full packages from twister, place full package on racks
  • Use correct tube or cone
  • Complete and place ID sheets on racks
  • Use creel caps to prevent waste/breaks
  • Put empty supply tubes in proper container
  • Flag any spindle position that is making a bad package, flag ends that need repairs
  • Clean conveyer belt
  • Keep work area clean
  • Perform any duties assigned by supervision


Essential Skills and Experience



  • Standing - approximately 7.5 hours on concrete floor
  • Sitting - 40 minute breaks
  • Moving - moves about in an area approximately 100' x 20' while performing duties; no prolonged standing in single location
  • Moving Materials - exerts initial push force of 20 lbs. -sustained force of 10 lbs.
  • Hearing/Speaking - must be able to communicate with fixers and supervisors
  • Reaching - 6'5" to reach and pull down creel unit, 5 - 6 feet to place 10-18 lb. packages on creel assembly
  • Visual Acuity - color vision required with minimum near vision to distinguish quality defects
  • Bending /Stooping - moderate (1.5 hours)
  • Lifting - intermittent lifting of full yarn packages weighing up to 18 lbs.
