Job Summary
The Interventional Radiology Technologist will support neuro interventional radiology procedures and must have prior experience in neurosurgery or neuroscience. The role involves performing diagnostic imaging and assisting radiologists during interventional procedures. Shifts are typically 5 eight-hour days, with flexibility for up to 4 ten-hour shifts. The position includes 2-3 on-call shifts per month and at least one holiday assignment.
Job Responsibilities


  • Select appropriate exposure factors and position patients to produce high-quality diagnostic images
  • Prepare and instruct patients for radiographic and fluoroscopic examinations
  • Assist radiologists during interventional procedures
  • Administer oral contrast as required for exams
  • Operate all x-ray equipment, CR, and DR systems proficiently
  • Report equipment malfunctions promptly to leadership
  • Complete assigned procedures efficiently and assist with departmental tasks between cases (e.g., stocking, clerical duties, patient transport)
  • Maintain medication security and adhere to authorized access protocols
  • Demonstrate competency in providing care across all age groups
  • Maintain professional and compassionate interactions with patients and staff
  • Utilize Hospital Information System (HIS), Radiology Information System (RIS), and PACS accurately
  • Participate in performance improvement initiatives as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and proper password security
  • Respond to technical inquiries from physicians and hospital personnel professionally


Job Requirements

  • Valid New York State Radiologic Technologist License (Required)
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (Required)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in radiology (Required)
  • Neurosurgery or neuroscience experience (Required)
  • Vascular Interventional Radiology (VIR) experience (Preferred)


Education

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program


Work Experience

  • At least two (2) years of experience in radiology, with emphasis on interventional procedures


Additional Job Details

  • No rotating shift schedule
  • 2-3 on-call shifts per month and at least one holiday assignment
  • Training period of up to six months for technologists transitioning from other modalities
