DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Viral Hepatitis Intern, you will conduct outreach to pediatric offices to identify infants exposed to hepatitis C at birth and provide pediatric practices with resources and information to ensure infants receive proper diagnosis and care. You will also document health information, assist with surveillance and prevention activities, and perform data management and data entry. This role provides an excellent opportunity for students interested in public health, epidemiology, or infectious disease prevention to gain practical experience while supporting the mission of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. In addition, you will attend weekly team meetings, contribute to discussions, and may participate in an emergency assignment to support public health emergency response efforts. - This internship position is a maximum of 20 hours per week.
- Work hours are flexible, Monday - Friday.
- The internship will start January 2026 and will end December 2026.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:
- Current full-time enrollment in a bachelor's degree or advanced degree program
- Good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
- Pennsylvania residency or enrollment at a Pennsylvania college or university
Additional Requirements:
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
