| Primary Purpose of the Organization: |
The Office of Online Education (
OOE) collaborates with various departments to support online students acquire the technical and academic skills important to the pursuit of their academic and career goals. The Office provides students, staff and faculty with the support and resources needed to succeed as participants in online education. |
| Primary Purpose of the Position: |
Reporting to the Director of Faculty Development and Online Education in the Office of Faculty Development. This position works collaboratively with the Director to develop and implement services and programs aimed at supporting and enriching teaching and learning. The Assistant Director will contribute to strategic planning for the Office of Faculty Development, cultivate partnerships on campus to identify new needs and opportunities for teaching support, identify best practices and resources applicable to the work of the
OFD, and help represent the OFD's work at meetings, conferences, and other academic venues.
In addition, the Assistant Director will conduct ongoing assessment of programs and services, analyze workshop activity, surveys, captured footage, and other evidence of impact, and draw on such data for iterative improvement of
OFD services.
This position will provide professional development and support services for
FSU faculty and collaborate with faculty, departments, and schools to improve and advance teaching performance, implement best practices, and promote innovations in pedagogy, curriculum design and the use of instructional technology across all teaching modalities (face to face, web enhanced, hybrid, hybrid primarily web and online).
Duties Include:
* support of campus-wide teaching and learning initiatives that foster the development and implementation of innovative, inclusive learning environments that enhance student engagement and retention.
* establish and maintain collegial relationships with the campus community.
* coordinate workshops and seminars on a range of teaching and learning topics.
* provide confidential teaching consultations and course observations.
* support the pedagogical development of new faculty and part-time faculty through coordination of workshops and seminars.
* Stay abreast of research, trends, and innovations in teaching and learning as applied to classroom and online learning environments.
* Mentor instructional designers and technologists on initiatives that integrate best pedagogical practices and emerging technologies.
* Monitor and assess the success of
OFD services and support and effectively report findings to the Director. |
| Minimum Education And Experience Requirements: |
Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in the field of educational technology, education, administration or related field. |
| Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: |
* Experience coordinating distance education and/or teaching and learning services.
* Experience coordinating quality assurance initiatives for hybrid and online education.
* Excellent interpersonal and writing communication skills
* Ability to handle multiple and simultaneous tasks
* Ability to work effectively with a variety of groups.
* Detail orientated and organized.
* Ability to deliver positive customer service experiences. |
