Position Summary/ Department Summary:
The Department of Cardiology at Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical
School has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Research Assistant. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team of AI scientists and pediatric cardiologists, electrophysiologists, and pediatricians across the Boston Children's enterprise to develop a custom dashboard of AI tools. You will lead technical projects in creating the dashboard, linking the dashboard to the digital waveform data (12-lead ECGs, smartwatch single-lead data, and Holter monitor data), ensuring data privacy, and optimizing workflows. You will be responsible for creating practical user interfaces that will enable clinical trials of AI algorithms created in our lab. You will also work closely with academic and potentially industry partners. The position is offered for two years and may be extended based on satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create a dashboard designed to integrate digital waveform data from various sources, including the 12-lead ECG, portable single-lead ECG devices (e.g., Apple watch), and Holter monitors
  • Collaborate with other group members and key clinical stakeholders to develop and design the custom dashboard to facilitate clinical trials
  • Provide tutorials to clinicians and other key stakeholders on how to efficiently and effectively use the dashboard and retrieve AI predictions
  • Create pipelines to extract waveforms from smartwatch devices and Holter monitor devices
  • Provide technical guidance to team members on projects at the intersection of cardiology & AI
  • Participate in clinical trial study design and publish your novel finding.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • B.S. degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or biomedical engineering with a focus on software engineering.
Experience:
  • Excellent coding skills in Python, HTML, and CSS
  • Documented history of creating web- or phone-based apps. Developing iOS applications a plus
  • Hands-on experience with deep learning tools (e.g., PyTorch or TensorFlow-Keras) a plus; Experience with integrating Application Programming Interfaces (APIs). Examples include the Fitbit and Kardia APIs
  • Experience with cloud-based storage solutions, such as Amazon S3.
  • Experience with ensuring data privacy and data encryption to comply with data privacy regulations. Experience with RedCap ID a plus.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
