About the Opportunity:

The Electrician will install maintain and repair electrical equipment and control panels. This position requires extensive knowledge of electrical motor controls as well as electrical safety codes and regulations. This position reports to Maintenance & Facilities Manager and support the operations group in the shop.

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Purpose/ Summary

Install, repair, maintain, adjust, calibrate, modify, and service all types of electronic numerical control systems plus other complex electrical equipment, circuits, controls, systems, motors, gauges, panels, transformers, switches, testing, recording, and controlling devices and equipment used in the manufacturing and testing of production parts throughout the factory.

  • Follow and maintain all safety procedures to ensure the safest possible work environment.
  • Some work assignments require special protective clothing such as face shields, aprons, and gloves. Refer to area JHA for specific PPE requirements. All areas require safety glasses and steel toe shoes.
  • Perform housekeeping and other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Assistance may be given to other operators on proper operational procedures.
  • Employee may be required to move material within the work area.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and report to work prepared to be productive.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and controls for forging, machining, and heat treat equipment.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints to diagnose and resolve electrical issues.
  • Program and troubleshoot PLCs using ladder logic; update control systems as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections to ensure safe and efficient equipment operation.
  • Test and calibrate electrical and electronic components using tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators.
  • Support furnace operations by monitoring and maintaining temperature and control systems to ensure process compliance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Production teams to resolve equipment issues and implement improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, calibrations, and part replacements.
  • Follow all applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies during installations and repairs.
  • Train and mentor other electricians or maintenance staff as needed.
  • Participate in audits, training, and continuous improvement efforts within the facility.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Completion of a formal electrical training program, apprenticeship, or technical certification (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, NCCER, or similar).
  • At least 5 years of experience performing electrical work, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Special Skills:

  • Experience supporting heavy industrial equipment such as presses, furnaces, or CNC machinery.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming and troubleshooting (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 70E electrical safety standards and LOTO procedures.
  • Exposure to regulated manufacturing environments (e.g., aerospace, NADCAP, AS9100).
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Cross-functional troubleshooting ability across electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Prior experience training or mentoring maintenance personnel.
  • Willingness to support off-shift or emergency repairs as needed.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with superiors, visitors, and contractors.
