JOB TITLE: Data Engineer - SAP S/4HANA Transformation

JOB SUMMARY

The Data Engineer - SAP S/4HANA Transformation is a critical member of the global program team responsible for designing, building, and sustaining data structures, pipelines, reporting capabilities, and analytics solutions that support the enterprise transition from SAP ECC to SAP S/4HANA.

This role blends deep data engineering expertise with hands-on system transformation work. It ensures that data is accurate, accessible, harmonized, and trusted across the organization-enabling informed decision-making throughout Terumo's SAP S/4HANA future-state environment.

The role collaborates extensively with IT, Global Process Owners, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, Organizational Development, and external system integrators.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Program & Data Architecture Leadership



  • Represent Data & Analytics in global SAP design sessions, ensuring data architecture, models, and reporting requirements are embedded in future-state S/4HANA processes.
  • Help define the enterprise data strategy required to support a unified global analytics platform.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable data structures, pipelines, and integrations.
  • Partner with process teams to ensure data readiness, quality, and governance standards are adhered to throughout the program.



S/4HANA Data Migration, Validation & Governance



  • Support migration from SAP ECC to S/4HANA by designing data validation routines, data transformation logic, and quality checks.
  • Maintain visibility and data consistency throughout cutover, execution, and stabilization.
  • Identify data-related risks, gaps, and errors; recommend remediation approaches.
  • Partner with Master Data, IT, and business functions to support proper data governance and controls.



Analytics Platform Development & Optimization



  • Build and optimize data pipelines, integrations, and automations needed to support operational, financial, and supply chain analytics.
  • Manage data ingestion from SAP and non-SAP sources into the global analytics environment.
  • Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned to modern best practices.
  • Continuously review current and future data structures with an eye toward simplification and performance.



Reporting, Insights & Visualization



  • Develop dashboards, KPIs, and analytics products supporting the global manufacturing network and enterprise operations.
  • Partner with functional teams to design role-based self-service reporting capabilities.
  • Publish standardized KPIs and reporting packages required for internal business needs.
  • Provide ad hoc analyses for strategic initiatives and executive decision-making.



Stakeholder Collaboration & Cross-Functional Leadership



  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, Quality, and other functions where accurate data is essential.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor during process design, testing, and deployment cycles.
  • Work closely with Organizational Development and Change Management teams to ensure data concepts, tools, and systems are incorporated into training and learning materials.



Post-Go-Live Sustainment & Continuous Improvement



  • Support stabilization and transition to steady-state ownership following go-live.
  • Enhance data processes, structures, and reporting capabilities based on end-user feedback.
  • Monitor data quality and system performance; recommend enhancements or optimizations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate, streamline, and standardize data workflows.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Software Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience..

Experience



  • 5-8 years of experience in data engineering, BI, analytics, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and supply chain data flows.
  • Proven experience developing analytics platforms, data pipelines, and reporting ecosystems.
  • SAP ECC or S/4HANA experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale systems transformations is a plus.



Skills



  • Advanced SQL and expertise in database design (Oracle, SQL Server, or similar).
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Azure and modern data engineering frameworks.
  • Knowledge of PowerShell or similar automation frameworks.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.



CERTIFICATIONS

Certifications in data engineering, cloud architecture, or analytics platforms are a plus.

Additional Requirements



  • Full-time participation in the SAP S/4HANA transformation program.
  • Up to 10% global travel may be required.



Target Pay Range:$102,000.00to$127,500.00 -Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data
Target Bonus on Base:7.0%
