Job Description

Position Description:



We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Planning Analyst to support the Group division within the Financial Planning and Analysis team. This position is focused on expenses and ideal for individuals looking to launch their career in financial analysis within the insurance industry. This role will serve as a critical business partner to leadership, focusing on financial planning, budgeting, operational efficiency, and performance analysis to enable data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Oracle ERP/EPB and Excel combined with analytical and communication skills to drive continuous improvement in cost structures.



Position Location:



  • This is a hybrid role working partially in-office (Lincoln, NE) and partially from home.


What you do:



  • Partner with leadership to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and multi-year financial plans aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Perform monthly variance analysis of actuals vs. budget/forecast; identify drivers and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and track division spend, including operational expenditures (OpEx), capital expenditures (CapEx), and project-related costs.
  • Conduct ad hoc financial analysis to support business initiatives, pricing decisions, and operational improvements. Support leadership and managers including purchase order tracking, invoice validation, accruals, and spend analysis.
  • Coordinate with procurement and accounts payable teams to ensure timely processing and reconciliation of expenses.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation in accordance with internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver regular financial reports and dashboards for Group division and Finance leadership.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to improve cost efficiency and optimize resource allocation.


What you bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business or a similar field of study required.
  • 0-2 years of experience in financial planning and analysis, financial operations, or business finance required.
  • Intermediate to advanced level experience with Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams required.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and continuous improvement mindset required.
  • Previous experience in the insurance or financial services desired.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analytical skills desired.
  • Familiarity with data analysis and visualization best practices desired.
  • Experience with Oracle Financials (Hyperion SmartView), Oracle ERP & EPB, or similar financial systems desired.
  • Experience in Power BI, including data modeling, dashboard creation, and report automation desired.

About this Position's Pay
The pay range posted reflects a nationwide minimum to maximum covering all potential locations where the position may be filled. The final determination on pay for any position will be based on multiple factors including role, career level, work location, skill set, and candidate level of experience to ensure pay equity within the organization. This position will be eligible to participate in our comprehensive benefits package (see above for details). This position will be eligible to participate in our Short-Term Incentive Plan with the annual target defined by the plan.
