Job Overview

Our Connectors facility in Leeds, AL is looking for a Facilities Engineer to grow with us! The Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating facility maintenance projects and improvements. This role requires expertise in managing building maintenance, telecommunications systems, facility equipment, and capital improvements while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Working under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering team, the engineer will handle strategic planning and daily operational checks to ensure the facility operates at peak efficiency and productivity.

A Day In The Life

  • Monitor and manage major facility assets and technologies to ensure maximum operational efficiencies.
  • Maintain and improve building facilities, manage vendor partnerships, and coordinate with external vendors and contractors to ensure all projects and maintenance work meet company standards and timelines.
  • Implement and oversee processes that facilitate everyday operations, including maintenance requests, licensing, permits, inspections, and contracts.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and systems for efficient facility operations, adhering to Prevention and Predictive Maintenance, TPM, SOPs, and safety protocols.
  • Plan, manage, and prepare the budget for facility maintenance and capital projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and supporting capital investment processes.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of all facility equipment and structures, including baghouses, cooling towers, air compressors, HVAC, air makeup units, cranes, presses, roofing, fire protection, and electrical systems.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance to ensure operational safety and efficiency.
  • Ensure environmental compliance and oversee the maintenance and compliance of fire sprinkler systems throughout the facility.
  • Participate in lean and continuous improvement activities, utilizing predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance methodologies.
  • Assist in inventory management of spare parts, supplies, and materials required for effective maintenance and improvement of the facility.
  • Provide technical advice and consultation on facility management and equipment maintenance.
  • Prepare reports and documentation related to facility operations, project progress, and vendor performance.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or equivalent preferred).
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of maintenance practices and troubleshooting for facility infrastructures and equipment, including but not limited to electrical systems, plumbing, fire suppression, roofing, baghouses, cooling towers, HVAC, air makeup units, air compressors, and cranes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft, SAP, and CMMS systems.
  • Proven experience managing capital projects and working with external vendors and contractors.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and mathematical skills.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret schematics, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
