Under the general supervision of the Facility Director, the Lead Technologist provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders including in center and out of center sleep testing. The Sleep Technologist can perform the duties of a Sleep Technician. The Lead Technologist is responsible for providing guidance and training of all technical staff. The Sleep Technologist is credentialed in sleep technology and maintains state licensure/certification.

Responsibilities

  • 1. Patient Preparation and Setup
    • 1.1 Collect, analyze and integrate patient information in order to identify and meet the patient-specific needs (physical/mental limitations, current emotional/physiological status regarding the testing procedure, pertinent medical/social history). Conduct assessment of patient orders and special requirements.
  • 2. Procedures
    • 2.1 Perform appropriate physiological calibrations to ensure proper signals and make required adjustments.
  • 3. Training and technical guidance
    • 3.1 Responsible for training and mentoring all new and existing techs. Training staff in new products, workflows, equipment and services including new software and upgrades.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

BA required, Masters preferred

EXPERIENCE

3 years min experience with 1 year functioning as a lead in providing guidance and support to staff.

LICENSURE

Maintain current CPR or BCLS certification. Successful completion of an accredited educational program leading to a certificate or associate degree with an emphasis in sleep technology. OR Successful completion of a sleep technology program associated with a state licensed and/or a nationally accredited educational facility or equivalent experience and documented proficiency for all competencies required of a sleep technician. AND Certification by a nationally recognized certification board and holds either the Registered Sleep Technologist (RST), Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT), or Sleep Disorders Specialist (SDS) credential.

PHYSICAL DEMAND

MMR is required. Varivax (chicken pox vaccine) or evidence of prior chicken pox is required. Hepatitis B (or signed declination) is required for those with potential exposure to blood/body fluids.
