SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for a Field Representative, Lead (Navigation Field Change) in an exciting and highly technical role supporting the Navigation Systems In-Service Engineering Activity (ISEA). This position involves performing Navigation Certifications (NAVCERT) and field change upgrades aboard U.S. Navy ships.



Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Conduct dockside and at-sea tests; analyze collected data and identify/resolve installation, technical, or procedural issues.
  • Provide expertise to troubleshoot Navigation system interface issues with other shipboard systems.
  • Assist with the development and updating of required documentation, procedures, and technical materials.
  • Travel to sponsor sites as the technical representative for assigned projects; conduct field tests, interpret results, and communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Prepare status, progress, and final reports summarizing results of inspections and field experiments.
  • Light-off, configure, test, troubleshoot, and operate primary systems and supporting equipment.
  • Verify functionality of newly installed equipment and assess system performance under operational conditions.
  • Continuously expand technical skills to support current and future Navigation system technologies.
  • Improve test procedures and processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and quality.
  • Provide oversight and on-the-job training to junior technicians.
  • Provide technical input to Project Managers for proposals and Statements of Work (SOWs).



Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:



  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Formal electronics training from a technical school, Class A or B military school, or a four-year electronics apprentice program.
  • Formal electronics training to include: installation tasks, soldering, cable dressing, cable tray, conduit, and connector fabrication/repair.
  • Four (4)+ years of practical experience in:

    • Electronics repair
    • Maintenance and checkout


  • Four (4) years of hands-on experience with U.S. Navy Navigation equipment and systems, including experience in at least three (3) of the following areas:

    • Systems Requirements
    • Operational Requirements
    • Test & Evaluation
    • Training


  • Two (2) years of experience providing technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • One (1) year of practical experience in electronics installation.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and coordination skills, with the confidence and communication ability to brief senior shipboard personnel on status, requirements, and issues.
  • Experience managing installations of electronic Tempalts, Ordalts, and Shipalts, including estimating, tracking, reporting, and directing.
  • Knowledge and experience with the installation and operation of AN/WSN-7 & 7B, CDU, VMS (ECDIS-N), EM Log, DEML, DHSYL, NAVSSI, and other related shipboard Combat Systems equipment.
  • Recognized expert with demonstrated industry or public service leadership in U.S. Navy Navigation equipment and systems.
  • Preferred: Proven management/leadership experience supporting the testing and evaluation of navigation systems.
  • Note: Experience may be concurrent.
