POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Manager is the key person in providing leadership, supervision, management and mentoring to the engineering department. Responsible for developing and leading the design of new products and modifications/improvements to existing products. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
- Works closely with Senior Management of the Heating Division to define strategic objectives and goals and generate an engineering strategic plan to significantly grow the business.
- Evaluates technical information infrastructure and make recommendations to improve and optimize. Provides leadership for Product Development in making decisions on, and setting priorities for, new products or changes to existing products. Interfaces closely with Sales and Project Management to manage the pipeline of new projects coming into engineering.
- Manages the design of new products to satisfy all performance requirements and meet or exceed the required product cost targets. In addition, responsible for the modification and improvement of existing products.
- Ensures that product designs meet expectations. (i.e. reliability, aesthetics, customer requirements, regulatory requirements etc.). Oversees all product design and the development of testing and validation plans. Chairs design reviews.
- Manages success of the design engineering team and ensures that business goals are being met. Identifies obstacles to success and develops solutions to overcome them. Creates goals and metrics for the engineering organization and regularly updates on progress against goals.
- Establishes standards, policies, processes and benchmarks for the engineering team.
- Keeps informed as to developments in competitive product offerings, and in material and manufacturing advancements as they apply to the company.
- Responsible for maintaining and advancing technical relationships with customers and technical service suppliers. Provides technical assistance, with respect to product application, to internal and external marketing representatives and customers.
- Defends the company against unjustified warranty claims where product failure is incorrectly attributed to defective material or manufacture.
- Develop, implement and maintain PLM processes and tools such as ECR/ECO or equivalent.
- Responsible for document change control. Control design changes will include, but not limited to test results, software/hardware configuration documentation, design history files, customer communication, and deviations.
- Monitors the ECO process, ensuring that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into released product documentation. Authorizes the release of drawings and changes throughout the product development process.
- Responsible for the on-going management and development of assigned employees through coaching and training to produce a high-performing organization. Determines staffing and skill requirements to meet organization needs and implements plans to satisfy those requirements.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 6 years of experience in product design and development
- 3 years of supervisory or management experience
- Knowledge of CAD systems and parametric technology
- Background in Engine Technology and/or heating products and applications
Base Pay Range: $115k - $150k Compensation Disclosure: At Phillips and Temro Industries, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is listed above.
