JOB TITLE: Senior Manager, Software Engineering

LOCATION: 1 Optum Circle, Eden Prairie, MN 55344 (Telecommuting available from anywhere in the U.S.)

DUTIES: Plan, direct, or coordinate software engineering activities. Duties include: Work on using reusable platforms like HCP and Claims360; work towards a goal of reducing call volume and provider obviation utilizing Generative AI and chatbots and be in in-line with the Claims and Appeal operations; review of provider feedback with the business stakeholders and improve operational efficiency; adhere to State and Federal regulations and ensure compliance with HIPAA standards; handle C&S and Medicare and Retirement projects in coordination with HHS (Health and Human Services); lead a portfolio with a budget of $7-10M; foster API adoption strategy across consumers to align with organization strategy of 100x and zero distance; provide context and parameters to help others develop objectives; monitors others' progress and provides feedback and support as required; adopt AI every day through AI tools; develop monitoring and observability capabilities using Generative AI to improve the alerting mechanism with a goal of 100 % application availability; work continuously on security vulnerability remediation and keeping up with NVD to improve Provider Portal and API security to minimize external threats; responsible for ensuring stability and reliability of complex provider domain applications with a focus on reducing war rooms and production incidents; and lead innovation to increase monitoring capabilities to detect and reduce the impact and communicate with the relevant stakeholders on any war room impacts. Telecommuting from anywhere in the U.S. 25% Domestic Travel required.

REQUIREMENTS: Employer will accept a Master's degree in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in an Engineering-related occupation.

Position requires two (2) years of experience in the following:

* Generative AI and Machine learning models;
* X12 and FHIR;
* Java, Spring Boot, and Python;
* New Relic;
* Dynatrace and Splunk;
* AWS cloud and Terraform;
* MongoDB and Elastic APM;
* Mapforce and CI/CD;
* Delivering technical assets within a team or department;
* Ensuring efficient allocation and utilization to meet technical and business needs;
* Establishing specific performance standards, measures outcomes, and ensuring personal and team performance meets internal and external expectations;
* Implementing operational improvements;
* Recruiting, and mentoring engineering resources, guiding team decision-making, and fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment; and
* Identifying budget issues, demand issues, and non-compliance with operational standards such as HIPAA, ADA, and SOX and maintaining technical assets in compliance with security policies.

RATE OF PAY: $ 185,162 - $236,775 / per year
