Quality Inspector

The Quality Inspector will provide quality inspection and auditing coverage in all areas of manufacturing, receiving, and shipping. They will document and aid in the correction of discrepant products produced in each area and be a catalyst for change for operations by actively supporting process improvements throughout the company.

Our Facility in Coxsackie, NY manufactures large, complex contoured structural components and assemblies for aerospace and other applications. Our integrated processes include stretch-forming, thermal-forming, chemical processing, precision fabrication, machining, finishing processes, and integration of components into subassemblies.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Acts as a catalyst for implementation of the Company's quality philosophy of "right the first time" approach rather than inspecting quality into the product at a later stage.
  • Performs all inspection requirements specified on the job traveler.
  • Participates in the designated Cell meetings and defective material reviews.
  • Identifies rejection history in the Cell and work with the other operators to develop and implement changes that will eliminate the root cause for the defect
  • Participates in the development of the response to any Corrective Action reports issued to the Cell and aids in the required verification follow-up to the CAR response submitted by the Cell.
  • Completes all necessary customer documentation for inspection activities.
  • Acts as a resource for performing First Piece Inspection of production runs in the Cell as well as a liaison between the Cell operators and other functional areas for resolving issues that hinder the production of products in the Cell, including interfacing with Customers.
  • Performs scheduled audits of the processes performed in the Cell for compliance to written Procedures.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to written procedures, as required, to keep the procedures in line with our operation and Customer requirements.
  • Understands with Customer specifications.
  • Performs and documents the Periodic Inspection of inspection tools and media used in the manufacture and inspection of products.
  • Performs necessary testing on products to ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Operates the Coordinate Measuring Machine to perform product verification.
  • Applies and understands Ducommun 6S programs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required by the position.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Six months of related inspection experience in metals manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent attention-to-detail and auditing skills.
  • Team oriented with an understanding of CI initiatives.
  • Familiar with inspection requirements.
  • Ability to use a variety of precision measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures.

Pay Range: $18.00-21.00/hour


Base Compensation: USD 18.00 - 21.00 Paid Hourly
