Position summary:

Inspect, maintain, repair and improve plant mechanical equipment and facilities at a power generation facility. Depending on the location, generation equipment at the plants may include simple cycle GE LM6000 gas turbines, combined cycle GE LM6000 units paired with Siemens steam turbines, simple cycle GE LMS100 gas turbines, and Wartsila reciprocating internal combustion engines.

Pay Range: $35.58 - $53.49 per hour (This posting includes the full pay range for this position. Pay is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.)

Reporting Relationship: Plant Manager

Location: Rapid City, South Dakota

Essential Functions:
* Coordinate equipment repairs and special projects with the Maintenance Manager. Inspect maintain and repair plant mechanical equipment.
* Layout and build/install plant piping, mechanical and structural steel upgrades/ improvements.
* Perform precision repair and maintenance work. Perform pipe and structural steel welding repairs.
* Rig and handle heavy equipment safely.
* Operate a forklift. Maintain plant vehicles and forklifts.
* Perform routine and non-routine preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment. Perform maintenance on all auxiliary and balance of plant equipment.
* Review Station Log Books, Dispatch Schedule and the Daily Read File on a daily basis. Support Operators and I&E crafts as needed for unit reliability
* Requisition and assist in ordering and receiving plant materials.
* Work with and direct contractors and other temporary on-site activities.

Additional Responsibilities:
* Maintenance and upkeep of site building and grounds. Maintain an orderly shop.
* Provide information on various plant reports. Maintain plant logs on equipment operation.
* Support scheduled and unscheduled call-out support as needed.

What Is Required:
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Minimum of 4 years of experience working in a gas turbine power plant or equivalent relevant industrial experience.
* Thorough knowledge of plant hazards and safety equipment.
* Ability to perform rotating equipment alignments.
* Ability to use mechanical tools and hand tools and to occasionally perform heavy lifting.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills. Computer literate in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and various other programs.
* Knowledge of operating a power plant.
* Knowledge and/or background for operating and maintaining mechanical systems common to a generation power plant.
* Ability to make effective long term and instantaneous decisions. Ability to solve problems.
* Attention to detail. Use discretion to balance competing priorities.
* Basic knowledge of computer based preventive maintenance program.
* Ability to perform heavy lifting at times.
* This position requires driving responsibilities. You must hold and maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company and insurer standards.

What Is Desired:
* Minimum of 2 years of technical training in the operation, calibration and maintenance of process control instruments and systems.
* Qualified to perform welds in accordance with AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code; ASME Section IV, Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code and ANSI B31.1, American National Standard Code for Pressure Piping.
* Ability to understand vendor equipment drawings and technical information.
