SUMMARY: The Assistant General Counsel (AGC) is an in-house legal position at the Public Health Institute. The AGC will provide professional legal services to protect the corporation's interests and maintain its operations within the scope of established law. The AGC will report to the General Counsel (GC) and serve in the Office of the General Counsel. The AGC will provide advice and counsel for matters related to a wide range of complex legal issues including, but not limited to, contractual agreements, licenses, intellectual property, governance, employment law, government contracting, and legal and regulatory compliance with a focus on scientific research, research administration, and data privacy. The AGC may be assigned additional duties and responsibilities as organizational needs evolve. This is a full-time, hybrid position. The AGC must be located in the San Francisco Bay Area and available to work in the office in downtown Oakland when required. The position may involve in-state and occasional out-of-state travel. Full salary range for this position: $161,321 to $254,426 per year. The typical hiring range for this position is from $161,321 (minimum) to $207,874 (midpoint), based on 100% FTE. The starting salary is determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, as well as budget availability.
