Detailed Description

Pump Operators - CT perform tasks associated with operating and maintaining fluid and nitrogen pumping equipment in the shop, yard, and at customer locations. Responsibilities include equipment rig-up/rig-down, operational monitoring, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation. All duties are performed in compliance with company, customer, and regulatory requirements. Employees actively participate in safety meetings, hazard identification, and competency development processes to enhance job performance and operational safety.

Senior-level incumbents perform duties with greater autonomy, provide technical guidance to crew members, assist with mentoring, and independently manage equipment operation during job execution.

Key Accountabilities / Essential Functions

  • Operate, rig up, rig down, and maintain CT-related fluid and nitrogen pumping equipment
  • Ensure all safety, environmental, and operational procedures are followed
  • Participate in safety meetings and hazard identification activities
  • Complete job paperwork, driver logs, and operational documentation accurately and timely
  • Maintain housekeeping, equipment readiness, and job-site cleanliness
  • Assist with equipment troubleshooting and corrective actions
  • Utilize competency processes to enhance technical skills and job performance
  • Support team operations and perform additional duties as assigned

Level 2- Additional Responsibilities

  • Independently direct rig-up and rig-down activities
  • Troubleshoot and correct pump operation deficiencies
  • Mentor and assist crew members during job execution

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)
Knowledge & Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of CT support equipment and pumping operations
  • Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of company policies, QHSE standards, and PSL guidelines
  • Knowledge of driver logs and job documentation requirements
  • Basic computer skills preferred

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to operate equipment according to operating standards and procedures
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations (whole numbers, fractions, decimals)
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English for safety and operational communication
  • Ability to work extended shifts, including time away from home
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Strong communication skills required for field operations

Minimum Qualifications - By Level
Pump Operator - CT (Level I)

  • High School Diploma or GED, or applicable relevant experience
  • No prior pump operation experience required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and training
  • Must meet physical, PPE, and environmental requirements of the role
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles as required

Pump Operator - CT (Level 2)

  • High School Diploma or GED, or applicable relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of fluid and/or nitrogen pump operations experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently operate, maintain, and troubleshoot pumping equipment
  • Ability to mentor and support less experienced crew members
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles as required

Licenses & Certifications (Preferred - All Levels)

Valid Class A Driver's License with appropriate endorsements for the vehicle operated, issued by state of residence

Additional Details (Working Conditions & Physical Demands)

This position requires heavy physical work, including exerting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently, and up to 20 pounds constantly. Physical demands include standing, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, pushing, pulling, reaching, grasping, repetitive hand motions, squatting, twisting, talking, and hearing.

Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments and may involve extended shifts beyond 8 hours. Travel is required (approximately 25-70% depending on assignment). The role involves exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, hazardous conditions, chemicals, atmospheric conditions, and confined spaces.
