Your Role

Gensler is seeking a professional, motivated, and highly collaborative Regional Photographer to join our Chicago team. This role champions Gensler's design excellence by working closely with communications, marketing, leadership, design teams, and clients to produce and manage high-quality photography assets.

The ideal candidate is an action-oriented team player with excellent visual, communication, multi-tasking, and organizational skills.

What You Will Do

Photography Leadership & Execution

  • Lead and coordinate all photography efforts for Gensler's North Central Region.

  • Serve as the on-staff interiors and architectural photographer for the majority of the region's project photoshoots.

  • Produce portrait photography for team members and group photography for collaboration moments, gatherings, and behind-the-scenes content.

Pre-Shoot Planning & Coordination

  • Manage the regional photography calendar and track upcoming shoots.

  • Organize shoot details and coordinate schedules with clients and Gensler teams.

  • Craft shot-list documents with internal stakeholders.

  • Liaise with external modeling agencies and talent as needed.

On-Site Execution

  • When working with photo freelancers, participate in shoots as an on-site producer and liaison between photographer, Gensler team, and client team.

Freelance Photographer Management

  • Maintain relationships, contracts, and terms with freelance photographers.

  • Oversee collaboration with freelancers on select projects.

Post-Production & Asset Management

  • Edit and produce final imagery for shoots photographed internally and liaise between photographer and project team to facilitate final photography for shoots photographed by external freelancers.

  • Distribute final image assets to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain client agreements for external usage.

  • Collaborate with project partners on shoot participation, cost sharing, and invoicing.

Regional Program Oversight & Collaboration

  • Oversee the administrative structure of photography across the North Central Region.

  • Participate in local, regional, and firmwide photography meetings to align on best practices and brand standards.

  • Collaborate with Studio Principals, Design Directors, and other key stakeholders to review photography plans, portfolio needs, and brand guidelines to ensure exceptional outcomes and consistent resource planning.

Videography & Motion Assets

  • Develop foundational videography skills to support evolving regional storytelling needs.

  • Contribute to the creation of short-form video assets for social media, internal storytelling, and project highlights.

  • Partner with communications and marketing teams to expand the region's motion-based content library.

  • Support the long-term goal of growing an integrated photography and videography capability for the North Central Region.

Your Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional experience with both photographic/production support and as a photographer

  • Understanding of the importance of storytelling through photo and video

  • Attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills

  • Ability to manage concurrent projects and deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Commit to meaningful internal collaboration and client service in a fast-paced environment while remaining poised under pressure

  • Experience in capturing and/or managing video production is a plus

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
