Vice President of Operations

$205,000 to $220,000 DOE

Hybrid

Overseeing Georgia, North & South Carolina, and Central/South Florida Operations

Preferred residency in Central/South Florida location (Tampa, Orlando, Palm Beach, Broward, or Miami)

This role is bonus eligible


The Vice President of Operations oversees the strategic direction and operation management of the South
Region and meets the values, guiding principles, and operating strategic goals of Global Medical Response. This position must work to meet the business and financial objectives and goals of the organization. This is achieved through positive community relations, retaining a profitable market share and driving GMR customer growth. Success will be achieved by ensuring internal and external customer satisfaction, positive employee engagement , developing and retaining profitable market share, increasing growth, and embracing GMR's mission to provide care to the world at a moment's notice.

Responsibilities:

  • The Vice President of Operations formulates and balances short- and long-term goals for the operating business units and develops distinctive strategies to achieve a competitive advantage, which align to support the organization's strategic priorities.
  • Directs the region's development of finance, acquisition, business development, fleet, communications center, human resource, clinical, customer relations, operational goals, objectives, policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates sound, entrepreneurial risk-taking by championing new ideas , embracing innovation and initiatives that address market potential, level of care needs, and customer expectations.
  • Participates in the formulation of proposed EBITA performance expectations within the region and monitors corporate-approved EBITA performance to achieve and exceed expectations.
  • Develop operating and capital budgets and re-allocate resources on an ongoing basis to optimize the use of available resources.
  • Management of the business unit's subordinate managers, and subject matter experts who in turn oversee the respective employee and customer base.
  • Develops talent and skills of subordinate managers, leaders, and employees by offering training opportunities to increase business unit strength and ensure proper succession planning.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors methods for ensuring customer satisfaction including contract compliance and negotiates and resolves issues associated with contracts.
  • Make decisions that reflect an understanding of the various stakeholder perspectives and take the initiative to make mid-course corrections by adjusting plans and drawing on all internal and external resources available to meet profitability goals.
  • Anticipates changes in the level of care and the current business environment, and allocate resources (e.g., equipment, training, and people) to meet operational needs and ensure timely and effective service delivery.
  • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory issues relevant to the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Air Ambulance Industry standards.
  • Networks to build, maintain, and nurture relationships with the appropriate political and community leaders and participants.
  • Lead by example reinforcing the organization's vision and principles, and core behaviors, providing direction, clarity of expectations, conflict resolution, and coaching to employees.
  • Responds to critical issues personally to ensure appropriate media relations.
  • fosters a collaborative environment and One Team approach with GMR departmental SME's to promote growth and problem solving.
  • Facilitates problem-solving within legal boundaries to reduce the risk of litigation and fosters a one-team collaborative approach with GMR departmental SME's to promote growth and problem solving.

Qualifications:
Education & Industry Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience required with an advanced degree preferred.
  • 12-15 years of experience with at least 8-10 years in general management or leadership, including financial management (profit and loss, budgeting) and employee supervision.
  • 10 years experience in the delivery of air and ground emergency medical services and transport.
  • Experience in marketing, turnaround, or start-up situations, and service industry experience all preferred with union experience a plus.
