Get to know Okta

Okta is The World's Identity Company. We free everyone to safely use any technology, anywhere, on any device or app. Our flexible and neutral products, Okta Platform and Auth0 Platform, provide secure access, authentication, and automation, placing identity at the core of business security and growth.

At Okta, we celebrate a variety of perspectives and experiences. We are not looking for someone who checks every single box - we're looking for lifelong learners and people who can make us better with their unique experiences.

Join our team! We're building a world where Identity belongs to you.

About Okta for Good:

Okta for Good is Okta's social impact and sustainability function, advancing our mission to build a more secure world where everyone can belong and thrive. We bring together a multidisciplinary team that leads Okta's nonprofit vertical, strategic philanthropy, employee programs, sustainability, and responsible technology efforts to create long-term value for Okta's business, our customers, communities and our people.

We operate at the intersection of cybersecurity, identity, trust, and social good, helping ensure that technology strengthens - rather than erodes - the foundations of a safe, inclusive, and sustainable digital world.

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Vice President of Global Impact: an executive operating at the critical intersection of technology, trust, and purpose. The ideal candidate is a strategic operator with deep tech fluency, a compelling storyteller, and a seasoned executive capable of navigating complex ecosystems-from internal product teams to global government and nonprofit leaders.

This leader will report directly to the Chief of Staff to the COO, who founded and scaled Okta's global impact efforts. This unique reporting structure is designed for maximum velocity; it offers the VP a strategic bridge to the COO's office, institutional historical context, and an influential partner dedicated to removing roadblocks. You will have the autonomy to lead the function while benefiting from a direct line into the highest levels of Okta's operational decision-making.

This leader will oversee Okta's global impact portfolio spanning:

Nonprofit Business & GTM Alignment

  • Lead Okta's global nonprofit business
  • Partner with GTM, product, and marketing to drive "blended" value of both revenue and social impact
  • Strengthen Okta's "tech for good" positioning in the market, building trust with nonprofit customers and the broader sector

Strategic Philanthropy & Employee Engagement

  • Oversee Okta's donor-advised fund, including current $50M, 5-year philanthropic commitment
  • Lead global volunteering + giving; workforce development programs; and nonprofit partnerships

Sustainability & Responsible Technology

  • Oversee Okta's ESG strategy, disclosures, and compliance with customer and regulatory requirements
  • Deliver on public sustainability commitments, including Science Based Targets
  • Lead responsible tech and responsible AI programming
  • Partner with Legal, Finance, Security, Engineering, and Product on cross-functional initiatives

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Set a bold three-year strategy for Okta for Good, grounded in building a more secure world.
  • Serve as an executive champion for trust, responsible tech, and mission-aligned growth
  • Represent Okta with senior external stakeholders, including enterprise customers, nonprofit partners, investors, and regulators

Nonprofit Business & GTM Integration

  • Oversee Okta's nonprofit vertical and ensure alignment with GTM and product teams
  • Operate an overlay model across GTM to drive both revenue and social impact via Okta's products and services
  • Partner with GTM leadership to drive awareness, resources, and positioning for nonprofit organizations globally

Philanthropy & Employee Programs

  • Lead multi-million-dollar global strategic philanthropy programs
  • Partner with internal and external leaders to drive a high-impact, data-driven grantmaking strategy
  • Oversee volunteering, employee giving, workforce development and nonprofit programs globally

Sustainability & Responsible Tech

  • Lead ESG strategy, reporting, and public disclosures in partnership with Finance, Legal, Investor Relations and Comms
  • Oversee delivery of Science Based Targets and climate commitments
  • Expand responsible tech and AI governance initiatives across the business

Operational Excellence

  • Manage and develop a global team of 12, including Directors and Senior Directors
  • Uplevel program execution, measurement, operating rhythms, and team rigor
  • Embed the responsible use of AI into the team's operations -- driving efficiency and growth
  • Strengthen cross-functional relationships with Legal, Finance, Security, People, Marketing, GTM, and Product

What We're Looking For:

Experience and Technical Expertise

  • 15+ years of experience in technology, social impact, sustainability, responsible tech, corporate strategy, GTM or related fields
  • Executive-level experience in fast-paced, complex organizations
  • Prior leadership of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Strong tech fluency
  • Experience building operating systems and program rigor
  • Senior-level financial oversight experience, including large operating and/or philanthropic budgets
  • Knowledge of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and regulatory trends
  • Ability to travel up to 30% based on location (i.e., more travel required for candidates outside of the SF Bay Area)

  • Leadership Presence: Calm, grounded leadership presence with the ability to influence senior executives (CFO, GC, CPO, CISO, CMO)
  • Systems Thinking: Strong systems thinking and the ability to manage ambiguity with confidence
  • Hybrid Identity: A blend of operator, strategist, and purpose-driven technologist
