Lead the engineering group and manage projects across multiple distribution centers nationwide, including capital and strategic initiatives. Drive continuous improvement in team performance and project outcomes through structured review processes and targeted development programs. Collaborate with distribution centers to resolve facility issues and implement cost-saving solutions that support operational excellence.

Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of maintenance and reliability programs across all McLane facilities. Ensure the integrity, performance, and availability of equipment and infrastructure, while driving operational excellence, minimizing downtime, and optimizing total cost of ownership. Additionally, this role leads to implementation, acceptance and adoption of CMMS practices.

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the enterprise-wide maintenance and reliability strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Develop SOPs and RFPs
  • Drive a proactive, data-driven reliability culture focused on asset performance, safety, and lifecycle management.
  • Partner cross functional operations, engineering, and construction to ensure asset integrity, lifecycle optimization, and standardization across all facilities.
  • Oversee the implementation of reliability centered maintenance (RCM) programs and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance asset performance and extend useful life
  • Serves as a key advisor to leadership on infrastructure investment, asset performance trends, and operational risk mitigation.
  • Analyze downtime, mean time between failures, and mean time to repair to identify root cause and implement data- driven corrective actions.
  • Develop and create partnerships with vendors, building a vendor base throughout McLane portfolio
  • Shift the mindset from "maintenance will fix it" to "we all own this

    Maintenance & Reliability Programs

  • Oversee predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Manage and partner with 3rd party vendors
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, company policies, and industry best practices.
  • Drive the cycle of clear accountability, preventative maintenance, and low downtime.
  • Strong vendor and contract management skills, including SLAs, performance metrics, and cost optimization.
  • Proven success negotiating service contracts, OEM maintenance agreements and capital procurement.

    Team Development & Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of maintenance managers, analysts, and third-party technicians.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional development.
  • Will be the "go-to" expert for mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure systems.
    Set the standard for quality repairs and builds welding, wiring, piping, troubleshooting.
  • Coach the team and operators on how equipment works, and why it's worth doing it right.
  • Solve recurring problems at the root, not just symptoms.
  • Help redesign and improve systems to be more efficient with lower maintenance requirements.
  • Make infrastructure and equipment better over time: more reliable, less downtime.

Asset Management

  • Implement and manage computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) to track work orders, asset history, and KPIs.
  • Optimize spare parts inventory and vendor relationships to support maintenance needs efficiently.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, EHS, and Supply Chain teams to align priorities and resolve chronic issues.
  • Lead cross-functional teams for capital projects, equipment upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.

    Budgeting & Cost Control

  • Develop and manage annual maintenance budgets, capital expenditure plans, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for OEE improvement and energy/resource efficiency.
  • Ensure budget is in line with Period, Quarterly and YTD Actuals.

    Metrics & Reporting

  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as MTBF, MTTR, equipment availability, and maintenance cost per unit.
  • Regularly report performance to executive leadership and recommend corrective actions.
  • Adheres to company GMP's (good manufacturing practices), safety procedures and all other quality processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • Seven or more years of progressive leadership in maintenance and reliability in a manufacturing, processing, or industrial environment.
  • Proven team leadership and project management skills; ability to influence change.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, shop drawings, construction schedules, etc.
  • Knowledge of controls and automation systems and safety requirements and standards for processing facilities.
  • Proven success in developing and scaling maintenance programs in large multi-site operations.
  • Strong understanding of CMMS, predictive maintenance technologies, TPM, and lean methodologies.
  • Extensive excel, pivot tables, Smartsheet, Projecto, Microsoft Projects, CPP, Asana, SharePoint, Maintenance Connection and Maximo.
  • Strategic thinking with hands-on problem-solving abilities
  • Must possess a strong working knowledge of machining, electrical and mechanical functions.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team-building skills
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management
  • Financial acumen and experience managing large budgets
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory frameworks

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • Strong understanding of MEP, controls and material handling systems.
  • Experience in Food Industry.
  • Maintenance and/or Reliability certification (CMRP, CRE, CPMM, CRL, CMM, PMP, Six Sigma).

    Working Conditions:

  • Approximately 60% of work is performed in an office environment.
  • 40% of work may involve being in the DCs / industrial environment.
  • Wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) when required.
  • Travel Expectation: Up to 50%

This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
