Description

The UCLA Center for Prehospital Care at the David Geffen School of Medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine seeks to hire a Recall Director to assist with the training and transition of the incoming Director. The Director works and collaborates closely with our Program Directors, along with the department's staff and management team within the Center for Prehospital Care. This position is a key leadership role responsible for advancing the Center's mission in education, research, community service, and financial stewardship.

Founded in 1987, CPC has grown into a nationally recognized Center of Excellence, serving more than 15,000 students annually across 800+ courses. The Center provides essential workforce education for UCLA Health and the David Geffen School of Medicine, while also partnering with hundreds of institutions and community organizations across Southern California.

The Recall Director wil provide tutelage with:


  • Providing strategic vision and leadership, ensuring alignment with departmental and institutional priorities.
  • Overseeing a $7.5M self-supporting budget, including contracts, service agreements, and grants.
  • Ensuring the development, delivery, and quality assurance of accredited educational programs.
  • Fostering research in prehospital medicine and secure extramural funding to sustain innovation and growth.
  • Leading and supporting a diverse team of 150+ faculty, staff, and part-time instructors through succession planning, professional development, and inclusive collaboration.
  • Serving as CPC's ambassador, building and maintaining strong relationships with more than 100 institutional clients, community partners, and professional organizations.

*This is a rehire limited 1 year appointment role at 43% FTE.

Salary: $10,708 - $24,841.67 monthly

Qualifications

Required:

  • Ten years of increasingly responsible healthcare leadership experience, with a proven track record in EMS, education, research, program development and performance management.
  • Bachelor's Degree or an advanced degree in Health Care Administration or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Comprehensive and thorough understanding of all elements of health care delivery, particularly emergency medical services, including strategy, scopes of practices, types of systems, operations and finances.
  • Demonstrates business and program development skills that create opportunity to forward the CPC and University mission.
  • Understands governmental and private sources of funding and demonstrates ability to prepare proposals to support CPC activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to design research studies, methodologies, statistical analyses and preparation of manuscripts.
  • Ability to understand student, patient and community needs, as well as scope of practice, national accreditations required for education programs.
  • Ability to accomplish results and effectively integrate functions with business plans. Consistently demonstrates and encourages a commitment to quality, customer-centeredness, productivity and continuous improvement.
  • Understands and embraces technology to provide solutions to common problems, decrease staff resources, improve client satisfaction.
  • Demonstrates a leadership style that builds and maintains a climate of caring, respect and trust and inspires commitment from others to achieve organization goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to foster relationships and effective collaboration with educators, researchers, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to make presentations and effectively speak in front of small (10) and large (100+) groups of healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to build, attract and develop a leadership team by demonstrating and setting high standards of behavior, performance, quality, credibility and integrity. Raises performance to levels that would not otherwise be achieved.
  • Demonstrates skill in financial analysis, planning, preparation and administration of a multi-million dollar budget and multiple funding sources.
  • Consistently interacts with all members of the organization in ways that enhance understanding, respect, cooperation and problem solving.
  • Recognizes the need for change; adapts to, and causes others to adapt to values, strategies, goals and plans in response to changing business conditions.
