Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of providers and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant (MA) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care. This position supports both clinical and administrative functions, ensuring smooth clinic operations and a positive patient experience.
We are hiring multiple Medical Assistants across outpatient practices in Pontiac and Bloomfield Township, with Full-Time and Part-Time opportunities available.
Key Responsibilities
Greet and assist patients upon arrival; escort patients to exam rooms
Obtain and document medical histories and vital signs
Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures
Administer medications and injections as directed
Perform basic lab testing and prepare/collect specimens
Schedule appointments and manage medical records
Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and handle correspondence
Clean, stock, and sterilize exam rooms and medical equipment
Provide patient education and post-visit instructions
Assist with minor procedures and wound care
Manage inventory and order medical supplies as needed
Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and patient confidentiality
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
- Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
- Ability to problem-solve preferred.
- Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
- EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
Additional Requirements:
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).
- OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.
- OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.
- OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
- OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
- OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
