Overview
The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Manager - Digital for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). Reporting to the Director of Communications and Marketing for the Division of Institutional Planning and Operations (IP&O). Develops an IP&O digital vision by building digital communications experiences on desktop, mobile, TV monitors, and social media platforms. Establishes comprehensive strategic themed based programs, tying both print and multi-media, which serve as the foundation for newsletter communications amongst other items. Develops and manages all presentations requests.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Develops standards and guidelines for all multi-media presentations involving social media platforms, equipment such as drone piloting (requires license), video and camera footage.
  • Manages all digital communication strategies: leads, directs, writes, edits, and produces all videography productions for internal and external IP&O partners, including UHR, Finance, ROTC, Legal, and outside companies.
  • Manages storage of all digital assets such as pictures and videos. Leads collaborative efforts with communications teams across the university, including UHR, Finance, Student Groups, and UCM, to provide them with key media resources.
  • Routinely supplies University Communications & Marketing, as well as other schools and units with photography and videography footage.
  • Provides IT support and all videography needs for all Strategic Services presentations as well as all applicable COO presentations.
  • Serves as newsletter editor for the division's popular and widely distributed newsletter, Inside IP&O. The publication is multimedia and includes both written and video stories. The editor is responsible for identifying and writing statewide IP&O focused stories.
  • Supports the development of the division's websites and collaborates with the User Experience Designer and Director, Creative to ensure all of the communications is consistent among many platforms, both web-based and traditional.
  • Leads the creation of meaningful video stories. Develops stories and follows-up on all requests for video assistance.
  • Leads as Remote Pilot In Command for all Strategic Services led drone flights. Duties include drafting flight plans, reading and analyzing METAR weather codes and TFRs, adhering to FAA policy, getting clearance from REHS, managing flight crew, and ensuring safety of all people and property surrounding the flight. Serves divisional photographer. Supports back-end and front-end coding page development. Support graphic design projects. Is part of the communications team for UHR communications. Support includes print and electronic mediums, photography, and event support.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus five years of related experience in project management, web design and architecture and media/multimedia production.
Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid Driver's License
  • A Drone License will be required for the successful candidate, but is not a requirement for hiring.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills necessary. Some knowledge of coding is preferred.
  • Proven experience with managing large scale projects and implementation.
  • Demonstrated practical experience, ability and/or qualification in digital engagement and the principles of online communications
  • and the ability to create and adapt strategy, platforms and content to a variety of audiences to create excitement and awareness about
  • IP&O.
  • Must have highly proficient video editing experience, working knowledge of InDesign, and some proficiency in Drupal CMS is
  • preferred.
  • Experience utilizing digital platforms to communicate information and ease access and utilization of a comprehensive academic
  • health center preferred.
  • Proven experience and results accompanied by strong knowledge of all aspects of digital communications, including design
  • concepts, various media, and applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse personalities and be able to handle multiple
  • competing priorities and work confidently, diplomatically and decisively under stress with senior administrators, faculty, students,
  • staff and others both internally and externally.
  • Can provide extreme attention to detail and ability to understand complex systems and how to present them in understandable
  • manner to others.
  • Strong strategic planning, project management, analytical, critical thinking and problem recognition, avoidance, and resolution
  • skills.
  • Must have professional copywriting and editing experience, expertise with audio/video production, a solid knowledge of the current
  • digital landscape.
  • Experience using the Adobe Suite, analytics programs (Google Analytics, Google, Tag Manager, and Google Data Studio, etc.).
  • Must be organized and detailed oriented with strong planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have extensive knowledge and experience with videography and video editing, as well as audio recording and editing.
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the university identity standards and/or Rutgers University Style Guide.
  • Experience at an institution of higher education is preferred.
  • Copywriting and editing experiences are preferred.
  • Having an FAA Small Unmanned Aircraft license is a plus.

Equipment Utilized

  • This position will be using a wide range of industry standard hardware and software and familiarity with the content management system, Drupel, is a plus.
  • This position will be using a wide range of hardware and software, including specialized graphics software and a strong command of the Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Knowledge of how to pilot a small unammed remote aircraft (drone), is strongly preferred.

  • DSLR Cameras, camcorders, lighting systems, and audio recording equipment are all essential equipment utilized.
