Job Type:Full-Time | 2nd Shift (Mon-Fri: 3:30PM - 12AM)
Compensation:$20.55/hour + Shift Differential + Benefits + Overtime opportunities

What you will do

You will maintain a material flow that supports the press room and coil and manufacturing operations. You will perform duties as required to support the shipping operations. Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, you will be required to package air handling units in the crating area. This will involve crating, weighing, measuring (dimensionally) and accurately labeling each crated pallet with the customer's delivery information or material or parts to each production operation to support productions scheduled requirements. For this role, driving a forklift is 25% or less of the role.

How you will do it

  • Packaging involves the following labor requirements:

    • Use of pneumatic staple gun to build a wood crate to defined packaging standard (ODS) that is taught on-the-job training

    • Understand how to use a tape measure to ensure correct board lengths are utilized and measure wood when needing to cut custom lengths

    • Use of an electric chop saw

    • Use of an electric Sawzall

    • Use of 2 kinds of plastic wrapping machines

    • Use of an electric banding tool

    • Frequent bending and standing while building the crates

  • Crate, weigh, measure, scan and label each pallet transport to staging area or load onto trailer.

  • Identify and report any concerns, either quality or as it pertains to their specific job requirements. etc.

  • Operate machinery pertinent to completing the tasks at hand. i.e. Forklift, Stand-up, Pallet Jack, Reach Trucks.

  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.

  • Other duties as required

What we look for

  • HS Diploma or general education degree (GED); 6 months or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Previous experience with hand tools, power tools, and tape measure preferred

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  • Strong customer service skills required, very good communications skills

  • Hold a Forklift Certification, or obtain a certification within a two-time allowance of testing all within the first month of starting position

  • Ability to work in a noisy, dusty, industrial/manufacturing environment with some exposure to non-toxic irritants

  • Ability to work with machinery and moving parts

  • Ability to operate cranes, trucks, motor vehicles

  • Ability to work with moving vehicles, ladders, and scaffolding Ability to work at heights

  • Ability to properly lift/carry/push/pull/manipulate/transport up to 25 lbs. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs, and frequently lift up to 40 lbs. Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment. Ability to work in repetitive motions and pressure involving fingers, hands, and wrists.

  • The Work requires some physical exertion such as long periods of standing or walking over hard concrete surface. Exposure to recurring bending, crouching, stooping, kneeling, sitting, climbing, stretching, reaching, or similar activities.

  • Ability to read, write, speak and communicate in the English Language

  • Must have the physical strength and ability to frequently work more than 40 hours weekly

  • Ability to operate all job necessary equipment including moving vehicles in a safe manner. Persons under the influence of illegal drugs, alcohol or a prescribed medication which has a prescription warning to not operate machinery or drive a moving vehicle, shall not be considered as having the ability to operate the necessary equipment in a safe manner.
