This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

As a Sr. Project Engineer on the New Glenn team, you will be the organizational and execution leader for the development, qualification, and delivery of a variety of critical vehicle components (Valves, Actuators, Quick Disconnects, Umbilicals, Etc).

You will be responsible for orchestrating the efforts of design, analysis, manufacturing, and test teams to deliver a portfolio of flight-critical hardware on schedule and within budget. Our team is at the forefront of developing the key technologies that will enable Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) for a portfolio of component lifecycles, from initial design through production and flight.
  • Define and manage the scope, schedule, and budget for all component-level activities, ensuring alignment with overall program objectives.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and coordination hub between design, analysis, manufacturing, test, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Establish, track, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and technical metrics related to team progress, hardware delivery, and budget performance.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports for regular status updates to program leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Facilitate technical and programmatic meetings, driving cross-functional decision-making and resolving programmatic roadblocks.
  • Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks and opportunities, and develop robust action plans.
  • Coordinate with internal manufacturing teams and external suppliers to ensure hardware and services are delivered on time and to specification.
  • Lead project planning for major reviews and readiness evaluations (e.g., PDR, CDR, TRR).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Aerospace, or related).
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in an engineering role, with at least 3 years in a project management, technical lead, or project engineering capacity.
  • Experience in managing projects involving the design, development, and delivery of complex hardware systems.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and managing schedules, budgets, and integrated project plans.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate between multiple technical teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting project status to various levels of leadership.

Desired:

  • Master's degree in an engineering discipline or an MBA.
  • PMP certification or formal training in project management methodologies.
  • Experience managing projects in the aerospace industry, particularly with flight hardware for launch vehicles or spacecraft.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of aerospace components such as valves, actuators, mechanisms, or structures.
  • Proficiency with project management software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or Jira.
  • Experience with risk management and Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and use metrics to drive team performance and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience managing external supplier relationships and schedules.

Compensation Range for:

WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
