Equity Research Associate, Utilities Sector

Summary

Ladenburg Thalmann is seeking an exceptional candidate for our Equity Research Department. The chosen candidate will be responsible for following the progress of covered companies as well as researching other additional public and private utility companies. The chosen candidate will support the research team in the efforts to analyze companies and make stock recommendations to institutional investor clients. Additionally, the chosen candidate will have an interest in equity research and financial modeling as it relates to the utilities sector. This position will be based in mid-town Manhattan, New York.

Annual Salary Range: $85,000-$95,000

Responsibilities & Job Requirements.

  • Write company and industry reports
  • Perform regression analysis to test valuation relationships
  • Manage special projects such as establishing quarterly earnings spreadsheet, property damage estimates from fire or storms, merger accretion analysis and EPS sensitivities to asset sales or added investment.
  • Interact with Ladenburg's institutional sales force and investors.
  • Coordinate meetings and communicate with company management
  • Utilize Bloomberg and SNL to maintain price runs and other statistical data
  • Perform administrative support functions including daily updates of price runs, scheduling meetings and calls with investors, setting up meetings at conferences and working internally with sales and trading
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Ability and desire to work in a collaborative/team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage tight timelines during long hours.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, or related fields.
  • Ability and willingness to obtain FINRA licenses (Series 7, 86).
