Job Summary

Supports the mission of FIU, Career and Talent Development (CTD), and the College of Arts, Sciences & Education (CASE) by providing a comprehensive career development and management program for students and recent alumni that contributes to the continued growth of internship, graduate school, and employment opportunities for undergraduate students in CASE. This individual will report to the Career and Talent Development department and serve as a liaison for CASE.

  • Serve as a career specialist for the College of Arts, Sciences & Education, which includes the areas of Biology, Chemistry, Earth and the Environment, Education, English, Interdisciplinary Studies, Liberal Studies, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Psychology, Recreation & Sport Management, and Women's & Gender Studies to connect students with internship and career opportunities related to their interest and/or academic program.
  • Serves as a liaison between the central Career and Talent Development Department and CASE, ensuring effective and efficient use of programming and resources, in order to support the vision, mission, and strategic goals and objectives of both the central CTD office and CASE.
  • Develops materials and conducts outreach presentations to educate students about the wide range of career opportunities and events associated with their program as well as how to gain skills and experiences to lead them to graduate school and/or employment.
  • Conducts one-on-one appointments as needed and group workshops with students to review resumes, conduct mock interviews, advise on networking, and other subjects.
  • Connects students in with both traditional internships, but also in other forms of experiential learning, such as micro-internships, volunteering, and mentorship/shadowing programs.
  • Assists and actively participates in Career and Talent Development and CASE events across all campuses.
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with Chairs, Faculty, and Advisors in CASE academic units in order to understand the needs of their academic programs and students as it relates to career/internship opportunities.
  • Assists with facilitation of professional development workshops for CASE advisors and other staff and faculty with direct contact with students to keep them informed of career trends and opportunities within the professions relevant to CASE degree programs.
  • Gathers data and prepares written communications including reports and multimedia materials for distribution to constituents and stakeholders.
  • Supports Deans/Colleges goals as they relate to career and job readiness for students. Also works with CASE Director of Experiential Learning on related projects.


Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and two (2) years of related experience; OR Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of related experience.

Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel or related field
