Assistant Bridge Maintenance Coordinator - Civil Engineer Supervisor

In this position, you will assist the operations of the bridge maintenance program across various counties, ensuring adherence to departmental policies, guidelines, and standards. Your role will involve applying engineering principles to make informed decisions regarding work assignments. Key responsibilities include maintaining records, scheduling in-house maintenance tasks, and supervising the Bridge Maintenance Crews responsible for all structures within the District.

Additionally, you will provide engineering support to design teams and the Bridge Management Unit in preparing contracts for contractor-led bridge maintenance work, assist in drafting the annual Bridge Washing Contract, and offer field supervision to the Bridge Crews in your assigned region, ensuring they receive the necessary engineering guidance during their operations. Furthermore, you will direct and mentor the Bridge Foremen (HF3) in your region, focusing on structure repairs, facility modifications, and summer maintenance activities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Schedule may be subject to change due to seasonal/operational needs.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $69,203 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Five years of civil engineering experience and an Engineer-In-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
• One year of civil engineering experience in highway design, construction or maintenance related projects and a bachelor's degree with major course work in civil engineering.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid driver's license.

Other Requirements:

• PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
