What to Expect

As a Data Analyst on Tesla's Service Logistics team, you will play a central role in turning raw logistics data into actionable insights and scalable tools that improve efficiency, reduce costs, increase on-time delivery, and support Tesla's aggressive scaling goals. You'll create new KPIs, develop automation scripts, and manage multiple high-impact projects with global scope. The role demands a proactive, self-driven individual who excels in a dynamic, fast-moving environment where you will work closely with Operations, Planning, Warehousing, Finance, and cross-functional stakeholders. You will be a thought leader in developing KPIs as well as managing their implementation and program execution.

This requires you to acquire deep subject matter knowledge about the different supply chain and transportation processes, systems, and KPIs. It is essential that you can think strategically, connecting the dots in the bigger picture, while also being comfortable with the details of the deliverables. The role is highly visible and is expected to simultaneously handle multiple projects at organizational scale and global reach.

What You'll Do
  • Experience building analytical models, querying data across multiple SQL databases, and performing rigorous quantitative analysis
  • Identify, define, and implement new KPIs and performance metrics across key logistics domains (e.g., carrier on-time delivery, freight cost per unit/mile, last-mile performance, detention & demurrage, network utilization)
  • Design, build, maintain, and continuously improve advanced Tableau dashboards and analytical views used daily by Logistics leadership, regional teams, operations managers, and cross-functional business units
  • Drive cross-functional programs and initiatives with Operations, Planning, Warehousing, Transportation Procurement, Finance, and third-party logistics providers to define, measure, and track key performance indicators that reflect operational performance and business outcomes
  • Translate complex logistics questions into structured analytical frameworks and deliver clear, actionable insights through dashboards, recurring reports, and executive-level briefings
  • Proactively support ad-hoc analysis requests while conducting in-depth, deep-dive analyses to uncover key trends, cost-saving opportunities, potential service risks, and network bottlenecks. This work empowers the team to perform effective root-cause analysis and drive actionable improvements across operations.
  • Collaborate with Logistics Operations, Transportation Procurement, and Data Engineering teams to improve data quality, expand data availability, and automate repetitive reporting processes

What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Supply Chain, Data Science, Mathematics, or equivalent experience or evidence of exceptional ability
  • 2+ years of experience working with supply chain, data analytics, or robust quantitative analysis
  • Strong Tableau experience - proven ability to build clean, scalable, high-performance dashboards using advanced features (LOD expressions, parameters, data blending, Tableau Prep, sets, groups, etc.)
  • Solid Python proficiency for data manipulation, automation, ETL pipelines, and tool-building (pandas, numpy, sqlalchemy, requests, openpyxl, etc.)
  • Ability to query large datasets in SQL, analyze and present data in a way that is accessible to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to define problems, collect relevant data, extract meaning from data, and draw logical and coherent conclusions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential
