Job Description

Ensures compliance with all Good Manufacturing Procedures. Works with key personnel in the facility on quality assurance issues.

Essential Functions

  • Have working knowledge and understanding of food-borne pathogens; methods of cleaning and sanitizing to minimize risks.
  • Have a working knowledge of HACCP concepts, SDS sheets, government, and industry FSQ codes and standards.
  • Have working knowledge of Food Safety Benchmarks (e.g.: BRCGS, ISO TS 22002, IFS, etc.)
  • Familiarize with company standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Communicate FSQ requirements to various employee groups.
  • Have the ability to motivate and build a team.
  • Cultivate a Food Safety and Quality Culture among all departments.
  • Have good communication skills both written and oral.
  • Work with Food Safety and Quality Compliance manager or designee on various projects including regulatory, non-GFSI vendor, and product/ingredient audits.
  • Conduct management training regarding FSQ requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Reviews reports regarding regular inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions to resolve deficiencies; Ensure appropriate actions are taken on a timely basis.
  • Support corporate efforts to facilitate uniform quality standards for food safety quality.
  • Audit "Good Manufacturing Process" training and compliance for the facility.
  • Oversee that FDA and USDA standard requirements are documented to maintain compliance.
  • Regularly audit that sanitation requirements are maintained in all areas of the facility.
  • Be able to pre-inspect facility and machinery (e.g.: X-Ray, conveyor belts, etc), and understand the machinery's functionality for safety issues, emergency shut down.
  • Be able to test and calibrate metal detectors and/or X-ray machines.
  • Be able to implement and enforce paperless/electronic systems (Jolt, Sage, etc.).
  • Ensure production documentation and labeling requirements are met.
  • Follow established rules of each unit for entry to building and work areas, properly attired and in compliance with HACCP guidelines for personal hygiene and observe security precautions as mandated by unit management.

  • Passing and improving audit results related to Food Safety and Quality.
  • Achievement of corporate objectives for corporate policies and goals.
  • Consistently set expectations and hold subordinates accountable to key duties and standards.
  • Ensure all FSQ required standards are followed and verify documentation compliance.
  • Review and maintain traceability system from the receipt of raw materials and ingredients to the shipment of finished product.


Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent.
  • Previous knowledge of food production, QA, or related experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in the food industry.
  • Can read, write, and understand English.
  • Knowledge of food industry quality and sanitation standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Lean program such as Six Sigma, and 5s quality models.
  • Be competent in statistical process control (SPC) and/or other quality tools to reduce process variation and drive root cause analysis.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
