Overview
The Part-Time Assistant Volleyball Coach, under the supervision of the Head Coach of the program, will assist in all aspects of planning, developing, and managing a successful collegiate team. Will assist in coaching, recruiting, game development, strategy, condition, and evaluating for the program. This position is open to current graduate students and non-student professionals.

Hours and Schedule: Irregular schedules are common, requiring long days, including some weekends.

Responsibilities
  • Establish a team culture focused on academic excellence, personal growth, and ethical conduct.
  • Promote and uphold the mission, philosophy, and core values of Utah State University Eastern.
  • Help coordinate practice plans, skill development sessions, and implement game strategies to prepare the team for competition.
  • Recruit and retain top-level student-athletes who reflect the values and standards of the school.
  • Adhere to NJCAA, SWAC, and institutional rules, policies, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the athletic department's social media staff to promote the volleyball program.
  • Engage in community outreach and support local businesses and athletics.
  • Assist in team fundraising efforts and support sponsorship opportunities to enhance program resources.
  • Coach student-athletes in volleyball-specific techniques, fundamentals, and conditioning.
  • Model competitive excellence and sportsmanship.
  • Serve as a positive role model on and off the court; foster a supportive team environment.
  • Maintain strong relationships with student-athletes and their families.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous coaching experience either at the collegiate, high school or club level.
  • For Graduate Assistant Classification: Must be an enrolled graduate student or planning to enroll, with prior playing experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution is preferred.
  • 1+ years of playing and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the NJCAA recruiting process and ability to recruit high-level talent
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are necessary for managing player development and working with staff.
  • Thorough knowledge of the sport's rules, strategies, and techniques is required.

Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, involving exposure to various temperatures, weather and noise. The environment is fast-paced, demanding constant communication, decision-making, and, frequently, travel with the team. The coach is often responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful environment for athletes. Requires frequent standing, walking, running, crouching, kneeling, and climbing. Lifting and Carrying: Frequent lifting or moving of equipment (often 20 to 50 pounds). Visual/Hearing: High requirements for depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to hear, speak, and communicate clearly under pressure. Long hours on feet and sustained physical activity. Constant, quick shifts between tasks and managing high-stress situations. Regular use of judgment in training, strategy, and skill assessment. Provide mentorship and giving instructions to athletes.
