REQUIREMENTS AND PREFERENCES

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Systems Network Analyst, Senior.
The infrastructure Section of Enterprise Technology Services is seeking a highly skilled Cloud Systems Analyst to join Broward County's Enterprise Technology Services team. The ideal candidate will design, implement, and manage hybrid cloud solutions while ensuring security, compliance, and optimal performance. This role is critical in driving cloud strategy, modernizing applications, and supporting County operations.

This is NOT remote position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, Deploy & Manage Hybrid Cloud Solutions: Architect secure, scalable, and compliant cloud infrastructure using Broward County platforms (VMs, Networking, Storage, Active Directory).
  • Virtualization & Desktop Management: Configure and maintain hybrid cloud analytics and hypervisor environments.
  • Performance Monitoring: Use native cloud analytics and monitoring tools to optimize system health and cost efficiency.
  • Security & Compliance: Apply ETS security standards and frameworks (CJIS, HIPAA, NIST) across all cloud platforms.
  • Cloud Identity & Access Management: Configure and maintain cloud platform secure authentication, role-based access control, and Zero Trust principles.
  • Cloud Backup & Disaster Recovery Planning: Implement and maintain cloud backup and disaster recovery strategies following cloud platform and ETS contingency planning guidelines.
  • Application Migration and Modernization: Assist in the migration of legacy applications to cloud platforms, improving reliability, security, and performance across County systems.
  • User Account Management: Enforce least privilege principles for network access.
  • Security Vulnerability Remediation: Identify and resolve vulnerabilities across hybrid infrastructure.
  • On-Call & Emergency Support: Participate in on-call rotation and EOC activation support.
  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Resolve issues with servers, desktops, and applications.
  • Cloud Cost Management and Optimization: Monitor and optimize cloud resource usage with a focus on Azure and AWS to align with County budgetary constraints and cost-saving initiatives.
General Description
Performs advanced professional, technical and analytical work with administrative responsibility in automation systems implementation and development.
Works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Requires a two (2) year degree from an accredited trade, technical or vocational school, college or university with major coursework in computer science or closely related field.
(One year of relevant experience may be substituted for each year of required education.)

Requires four (4) years in supporting users and analyzing computer systems in a hybrid cloud environment and virtualization technologies or closely related experience.

Special Certifications and Licenses
None.

Preferences

-Bachelor's Degree or higher
-4 years of experience supporting virtual machines in a Vmware ESXi environment at time of application.
-4 years of experience supporting Server technologies at time of application.
-4 years of experience supporting Active Directory technologies and related tasks at time of application.
-Experience supporting and architecting Cloud Technologies (Microsoft Azure, AWS and Microsoft 365) and their services. Understanding serverless computing and infrastructure as Code is beneficial.
-Strong knowledge of enterprise class servers, desktops and laptops.
-Strong knowledge of enterprise class operating systems (Windows Server 2022 and above, Windows 11) .
-Microsoft, CompTIA, or VMware Certifications with emphasis on cloud technologies.
-Experience implementing, supporting and managing Artificial Intelligence initiatives and technologies.

SCOPE OF WORK

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.

Provides design, procurement, implementation, and administration of the network infrastructure - routers, switches, and plans; provides procurement, implementation, and administration of firewalls; provides administration of the Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) phone system; and manages network related projects.

Analyzes, diagnoses, and rectifies issues related to server and/or desktop/laptop computer problems as they are reported on an emergency or non-emergency basis; including issuesrelated to cloud platforms, applications and technologies.

Completes ad-hoc projects based on end user and Information Technology (IT) analyst needs, including troubleshooting and updating and maintaining file systems.

Performs change control tasks, including implementing and updating web applications as needed by application analysts; launches and implements any new technologies approved by management and special task force; studies, investigates, reviews, and recommends implementation of evolving and emerging technologies.

Performs analyses of systems designs, develops applications, and documents workflow and processes; reviews peer-reviewed and professional material in digital and paper formats to keep up with the latest trends in both the library and technology community.

Provides help desk support; responds to calls, emails, incident tickets, and/or inquiries from computer/network users and customers to resolve/troubleshoot microcomputer and minicomputer hardware or software issues; provides tech support in the field and after hours support.

Provides systems administration for servers, patch installation and upgrade maintenance; installs, configures, and reimages desktop/laptop hardware and software; performs data backup and restores; and manages computer security and virus removal.

This position may require localized travel throughout Broward County for the purposes of field services or onsite visits for items that cannot be supported remotely.

Performs related work as assigned.
